  • Patent number: 6446882
Abstract: The invention is a trigger sprayer comprising a tubular nozzle bushing and a nozzle cap rotatable on the bushing. The nozzle cap has an end wall with a first swirl chamber formed on the rear face thereof offset from the axis. Passages to a second chamber are diametrically opposite the first chamber. Both chambers have orifices directed out the front of the cap. The first orifices is surrounded by a foaming sleeve. The second orifice is positioned forward of the first orifice so that the spray cone emanating from the second orifice does not hit the foaming sleeve. The cap can be rotated to connect liquid from the delivery tube to the swirl chamber for one or the other orifices.

  • Patent number: 6431416
Abstract: A toggle-action dispensing closure includes a base having an upper edge, and internal thread or bead for securement to a container, and a recessed deck disposed beneath the upper edge and having a fluid dispensing opening. A dispensing disk or actuator is pivotally mounted to the base above the deck, and includes a seal for cooperating with the dispensing opening for selectively opening and closing the dispensing opening. A lug element on a periphery of the disk has a sharp edge in opposed abutment with the upper edge of the base to resist first movement of the actuator to open the dispensing opening. First movement of the actuator to open the dispensing opening causes permanent deformation at the upper edge of the base and/or at the lower edge of the element, such that the element and the edge present lesser resistance to opening of the actuator after such first opening.

  • Patent number: 6398051
Abstract: A package for tablet products that includes a container having an interior volume for holding the tablet products and a closure secured to a cylindrical finish of the container. A product hold-down device has an axially resilient central portion, a lower portion for engaging the upper surface of the product within the container, and an upper portion for securement within the container finish to hold the device in place within the finish, with the closure removed from the finish, against the axially resilient forces applied to the device by engagement of the lower portion with product in the container and resilient compression of the central portion of the device. Thus, the hold-down device can be inserted into the container and secured to the container using automatic packaging equipment, and the container closure then applied to the container. In use, the closure is removed from the container, and the device is removed and discarded by the user.

  • Patent number: 6381928
Abstract: A closure and container package that includes a container having a finish with an external thread, and a closure having a base wall and a peripheral skirt with an internal thread for threadably engaging the external thread on the container finish. An internal rib on the skirt extends axially of the skirt between overlapping reaches of the internal thread for frictional engagement with the external thread on the container finish to retard rotation of the closure onto and off of the finish. In the preferred embodiments of the invention, there are diametrically opposed ribs on the internal surface of the peripheral skirt extending between overlapping reaches of the internal thread, with the ribs being of lesser radial thickness than the internal threads. A tamper-indicating band is coupled to the lower edge of the peripheral skirt by frangible bridges for engagement with a bead on the container finish.

  • Patent number: 6382443
Abstract: A tamper-indicating closure of integrally molded plastic construction that includes a base wall having a peripheral skirt with internal threads for engaging external threads on a container finish. A tamper-indicating band is connected to the edge of the skirt by a plurality of circumferentially spaced integral frangible bridges. A stop flange extends axially outwardly and radially inwardly from an edge of the band remote from the skirt for inversion and engagement with a bead on the container finish. The stop flange is in the form of a circumferentially continuous base of uniform thickness circumferentially of the band, and either uniform or increasing thickness radially and axially of the band. A plurality of circumferentially spaced lugs are integral with and extend from the base. The lugs widen uniformly from zero thickness at the band to a maximum thickness at the free edge of the flange.
