The gas-impermeable stopper (10) is incorporated in the discharge vessel (6) as a cohesively handleable part, by it being introduced into an opening of the discharge vessel (6). In this case, the opening of the discharge vessel (6) is sealed in a gas-tight manner by the stopper (10) via a change in shape of the discharge vessel (6) and/or of the stopper (10).
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for operation of ah high pressure discharge lamp with a low-frequency current of alternating polarity, whereby the high pressure discharge lamp is operated during a start phase at a higher power than the rated power thereof. Abstract: A driver arrangement for LED light sources includes a transformer having primary and secondary winding connections. A first electronic switch (SW1) controls current flow through the primary winding, and a sensing resistor is coupled to the primary winding to produce a current sensing signal. A second electronic switch (SW2) is sensitive to the sensing signal to switch off SW1 as current flow through the primary winding reaches a given threshold. SW1 is thus alternatively turned-on and off in alternating turn-on and switch-off phases to power the LED light source via the secondary winding. SW1 is a field effect transistor, preferably a MOSFET. The transformer is SELV-rated. The sensing resistor may be a variable resistor to adjust the duration of the on/off phases to permit controlled dimming.

Abstract: An adapter for providing a recessed lamp in a screw-type lampholder. This adapter has an electrical contact-making device, via which an electrical connection is produced between a screw base, which can be introduced into the screw-type lampholder, of the adapter and the recessed lamp once the recessed lamp has been introduced into the adapter. Furthermore, the adapter has a switchable electrical connecting device, via which, in the state in which there is no mechanical connection between an enveloping bulb for the recessed lamp and the adapter, an electrical connection is not produced between the screw base and the recessed lamp, and via which, in the state in which the recessed lamp is surrounded, at least in sections, by the enveloping bulb, an electrical connection is produced between the screw base and the recessed lamp. As a result, the recessed lamp in the adapter can only be operated with the enveloping bulb placed thereon.
Abstract: A lamp base assembly with electronic ballast for energy-saving lamp includes a housing (22), a lamp cap (21) and an electronic ballast (24) with transistors (23) provided within the housing. A transistor heat-diffusing element surrounding each transistor is provided within the lamp base, for enhancing the heat transfer from the transistors to the housing or the lamp cap, so that the heat generated from the transistors could be transferred out of the lamp base assembly. Thus, the heat-diffusing ability of the transistors is improved, and the working temperature of the transistors could be kept within a safe scope, so that the lifetime of the energy-saving lamp is guaranteed.
