Abstract: An overprint aqueous varnish has improved properties by having incorporated therein a small amount of an aqueous mixture of a finely divided hydrocarbon and certain high molecular weight oxyalkylated primary alcohols.
Abstract: A method for reducing friction loss in flowing hydrocarbon fluids is disclosed. The method comprises adding to the fluid an effective amount of an oil-soluble polyamine and a terpolymer of styrene, alkyl acrylate and a carboxylic acid selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid. Related compositions are also disclosed.

Abstract: A distillate fuel, particularly one which has a high acid number initially or which develops a high acid number as a result of fuel degradation, stabilized with a diaminomethane of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 may be independently a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group, e.g., alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkaryl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aralkenyl, alkenylaryl, cycloalkenyl and the like or heterocyclyl groups and in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 and/or R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 may be joined together to form a five or six member heterocyclyl ring and R.sub.5 may be hydrogen or lower alkyl is disclosed. A method of stabilizing a fuel oil wherein a stabilizing amount of the above-mentioned diaminomethane is incorporated into the fuel oil is also disclosed.
Abstract: Water-soluble 1,2-dithiole-3-thione derivatives are prepared by reacting a polyoxyalkylated starting material with sulfur. These derivatives are useful as corrosion inhibitors, particularly in aqueous environments.
Abstract: Certain dithiocarbamates are used as reverse demulsifiers, corrosion and scale inhibitors, flocculants, biocides, flotation aids, water clarifiers, interface control agents and antifoaming agents.

Abstract: A method for preparation of an aminomethylene phosphonate useful as a scale inhibitor in high brine environments. The method comprises phosphonomethylating an amine of the formula ##STR1## wherein x is an integer from 1 to 6 and the Z's are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and --CH.sub.3, to produce an aminomethylene phosphonate of the formula ##STR2## wherein x and the Z's are defined as above and R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are indepenedently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and --CH.sub.2 PO.sub.3 H.sub.2, such that at least about 80% of the R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 in a mixture of the aminomethylene phosphonate is --CH.sub.2 PO.sub.3 H.sub.2. Related methods and compositions are also disclosed.

Abstract: A fuel oil stabilized with an imine-enamine condensate which is the reaction product of an aldehyde having at least two carbon atoms and/or a ketone and a polyamine of the formula: ##STR1## wherein n is 0 or an integer from 1 to 6, M is a carbon or nitrogen atom and R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are independently hydrogen, a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group, e.g., alkyl, aryl, aralky, alkaryl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aralkenyl, alkenylaryl, cycloalkenyl and the like or heterocyclyl groups. A method of stabilizing a fuel oil wherein a stabilizing amount of the above mentioned imine-enamine condensate is incorporated into the fuel oil.
