  • Publication number: 20080055460
Abstract: The present invention relates to an auto focus method for obtaining a sharp image of two subjects. The auto focus method includes the following steps. Firstly, a pre-taken image is obtained by focusing on a first subject with an image capture device. Then, the pre-taken image is divided into a first area and a second area. According to image analysis, a first focusing lens step number for the first area and a second focusing lens step number for the second area are obtained. Then, a first image is obtained by focusing on the first area of the pre-taken image. By comparing the first focusing lens step number with the second focusing lens step number, it is discriminated whether a second image is captured or not.

  • Patent number: 7324708
Abstract: An interpolation method for processing digital pictures divides blank regions among the pixels equally into several squares. The interpolation parameter of each square corresponding to the sampling point is determined. These interpolation parameters are compressed and stored. When zooming a picture, the interpolating point is made sure to fall within a target square. The interpolation parameter is extracted according to the position of the target square. The brightness of the interpolating point is computed according to the interpolation parameter and the brightness of the sampling point.

  • Patent number: 7324704
Abstract: A method of repairing scratches in a digital image includes counting the number of abnormal pixels among neighboring pixels of a selected pixel. The selected pixels that are surrounded by abnormal pixels in a number greater than a predetermined value are designed as particular pixels. An area surrounding each particular pixel is divided into a plurality of blocks. Furthermore, brightness difference between two of the blocks are calculated. Scratch pixels are found from the particular pixels based on brightness difference between blocks. Then, an area surrounded by scratch pixels are subdivided and filled up. Thereby, the scratch pixels can be precisely found and repaired without the need of hardware.

  • Patent number: 7317832
Abstract: A method of photo/text separation using path frequency of pixel intensities is disclosed. It divides an original image into n*n pixel blocks and records the path conditions satisfied by the intensities of consecutive two pixels. From the statistical analysis of the path appearance frequency, the method determines the text/photo types in the pixel block, thereby determining the output type of the whole original image.

  • Patent number: 7313275
Abstract: A method of separating text and graphs in digital image data is used to separate digital image data into graph data and text data. According to a default separating parameter, the digital image data are partitioned into several operating matrices. One then sets a default crossing reference level for comparison analyses to compare adjacent pixel units in each operating matrix. When the digital characteristic value of a pixel unit is greater than the default crossing reference level and the digital characteristic value of its one adjacent pixel unit are smaller the default crossing reference level, the operating matrix is given a weight. Afterwards, all the weights are added up to give a weighted statistical value, which eventually is used to separate the graph data from the text data.

  • Patent number: 7298894
Abstract: A color image conversion method and the associated system are disclosed. An allowed error range of pixels is determined. After an image input device reads a document, the pixel information and the pixel allowed error range are compared to determine whether the document is a color or black-and-white (BW) one. If it is a BW document, the image file is directly converted into a monochromic and grey-level one and stored in 8-bit or even 1-bit format, thereby reducing the storage space occupied by the image file.

  • Patent number: 7295686
Abstract: In a method of processing red eye in digital images, a skin area is first determined in an image. Then all inner boundaries within the skin area are picked up. The inner boundaries are matched with an eyelid quadratic curve to determine the location of the eyelid area. Red pixels within the eyelid area are then detected and filled up. A quadratic curve model can be further used to localize an iris area within the eyelid area to improve the precision of red eye localization as well as the processing speed.
