Abstract: A method of identifying or evaluating skin-care actives that improve the metabolism of a skin cell. The method includes contacting cells with a stressor and a test agent and determining a response of the cells to the stressor and test agent, based on the change in metabolic indicators associated with glycolysis and/or oxidative phosphylation. The test agent may be identified as a skin-care active when the oxidative phosphorylation and/or glycolysis response corresponds to an improvement in cellular metabolism.
Abstract: A consumer product composition comprises a non-porous dissolvable solid structure comprising from about 30% to about 95%, by weight of the consumer product composition, of a carrier material, and from about 5% to about 50%, by weight of the consumer product composition, of a hydrophobic conditioning agent disposed within the carrier material of the non-porous dissolvable solid structure. The carrier material comprises a polyethylene glycol material, or mixtures thereof, having a molecular weight of from about 200 to about 50,000. The hydrophobic conditioning agent is selected from the group consisting of silicone materials, organic conditioning oils, hydrocarbon oils, fatty esters, metathesized unsaturated polyol esters, silane-modified oils, and mixtures thereof.

Abstract: A dual-mode high-waist disposable absorbent pant with foldover waist features is disclosed. The pant may include a laterally extending folding region disposed longitudinally between the waist opening edge and the front and/or rear ends of an absorbent core structure; the folding region may include a first web structure. The pant may also include a waistband region disposed longitudinally between the waist opening edge and the folding region; the waistband region may include a second web structure and one or a plurality of laterally extending, pre-strained elastic member(s) disposed between a first pair of layers. The second web structure may differ in configuration from the first web structure. The longitudinal dimension between the waist opening edge of the pant and the leg opening edges may be at least 30 percent of the overall length of the pant when in an open, fully extended and flattened condition.
Abstract: Catalysts for dehydrating hydroxypropionic acid, hydroxypropionic acid derivatives, or mixtures thereof to acrylic acid, acrylic acid derivatives, or mixtures thereof with high yield and selectivity, short residence time, and without significant conversion to undesired side products, such as, for example, acetaldehyde, propionic acid, and acetic acid, are provided. The catalysts are mixed protonated monophosphates. Methods of preparing the catalysts are also provided.

Abstract: A perforating apparatus has a base having at least one counter component. The counter component has a length, LCC, and a nonlinear shape having a shape width, W. A support is operatively engaged with the base. A blade having a length, LB, is disposed on the support so as to cooperate in interacting relationship with the counter component. The blade has a plurality of teeth. A web material is perforated as it passes between the base and the support and the blade cooperates with the counter component. A driving means is associated with one of the support and the base to reciprocally shift the one of the support or the base for a distance, D, in a shifting direction. The distance, D, is at least the translational distance that one tooth travels to cover the shape width, W.

Abstract: An absorbent article comprising a topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core comprising channels disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, and a printed adhesive layer disposed between the topsheet and the absorbent core such that the printed adhesive layer is visible through the topsheet. At least a portion of the adhesive layer forms a pattern of one or more pairs of contoured lines that run lengthwise in the machine direction of the absorbent article, each pair being symmetric to its compliment across an axis of the absorbent article drawn in the machine direction and at the center of its width. The distance between the innermost pair of contoured lines is from about 15 mm to about 25 mm or the amount of adhesive comprising the printed adhesive layer is such that the pattern coverage with the adhesive is from about 15% to about 30%.
