Patents Assigned to RealNetworks Asia Pacific Co., Ltd.
  • Patent number: 8718256
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and system for providing a ringback tone (RBT). The system for providing an RBT to a user comprises: a sound file storage for storing a sound file; a user database receiving sound selection information from a user terminal, recording a sound identifier of the sound file corresponding to the sound selection information, receiving output position information of the selected sound file from the user terminal, and recording the sound position information; and an RBT providing unit reproducing a region which corresponds to the output position information from the sound file corresponding to the sound identifier with reference to the sound file storage and the user database so as to be provided as an RBT.

  • Patent number: 8238523
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and system for providing a ring back tone service by using a play announcement message in an intelligent network. According to the present invention, there is no need for separate apparatus such as a signaling gateway, by removing the interoperation between a service control point and a coloring server. Thus, there is an advantage that additional cost does not occur.

  • Patent number: 7817993
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for setting up a substituted ring back tone (RBT) provided from a predetermined communication provider, and more particularly, a method and system for recognizing a first substituted RBT of a first subscriber and setting up the first substituted RBT as a substituted RBT of a second subscriber, between subscribers of different communication providers. According to the present invention, it is possible to easily copy a substituted RBT from another user's substituted RBT and set up the same as a user's own substituted RBT. In this instance, the substituted RBT is provided according to a request for a call setup of a mobile terminal. Also, it is possible to set up a substituted RBT of a subscriber of a different communication provider as a user's substituted RBT, while not receiving predetermined information from the communication provider.

  • Publication number: 20090299740
Abstract: A method of pre-processing an audio signal transmitted to a user terminal via a communication network and an apparatus using the method are provided. The method of pre-processing the audio signal may prevent deterioration of a sound quality of the audio signal transmitted to the user terminal by pre-processing the audio signal, and by enabling a codec module, encoding the audio signal, to determine the audio signal as a speech signal. Also, the method of pre-processing the audio signal may improve a probability that the codec module may determine a corresponding audio signal as a speech when the audio signal is transmitted via the communication network by pre-processing the audio signal using a speech codec.

  • Patent number: 7512421
Abstract: A caller may set his telephone's substitute ringback tone to be identical to that of the receiver or to that of a third party. Further, a caller may provide a substitute ringback tone to another recipient as a present. A substitute ringback tone playing server in the system checks whether there is a certain key input or key input stream from the caller requesting of bringing substitute ringback tone of the called party. Responding to the request, a bringing server sets the substitute ringback tone code of the caller stored in a playing control server as that of the called party. A user interface server allows a user to select a substitute ringback tone among multiple tones stored in a database to give to another person as a present.

  • Patent number: 7430506
Abstract: Since music signals are encoded by a voice encoding method optimized to human voice signals such as EVRC (Enhanced Variable Rate Coding) in a cellular communication system, the music signals are often distorted by such encoding method, and listeners experience pauses in music caused by such voice-optimized encoding method. To improve the perceptual sound quality of music, a method for preprocessing digital audio data is provided in order to prevent the problem of pause in music signals in a cellular phone. In particular, AGC (Automatic Gain Control) preprocessing and PHE (Pitch Harmonics Enhancement) is performed to the digital audio data having low dynamic range. By this method, the number of pauses in music signal is reduced, and the perceptual sound quality of the music is improved.
