  • Patent number: 4313246
Abstract: Belt-lock and plug-in tongue for a safety belt having a locking mechanism with two locking latches for locking the tongue, tensioned against each other by a spring, and with one locking latch disposed on each side of the plug-in tongue. A hand-actuated member is movable against disengaging means of the locking mechanism to simultaneously move the two locking latches out of engagement with the tongue to permit removal of the tongue from the lock-housing. This assures symmetrical absorption by the belt lock through the latches of forces introduced by the belt system, and also equal distribution of the pulling forces to both locking latches so that the effective forces at each locking latch are halved.

  • Patent number: 4307852
Abstract: Roll-up device for a safety belt with a mechanism for blocking the belt shaft in case of a crash. Blocking is effected by locking pawl means coupled with the belt shaft and activated by release mechanism. The belt shaft has two sets of bearings (a) the belt shaft is supported by bearings with little play and little friction and which are elastically yielding to high pull forces which occur in case of a crash, and (b) the belt shaft is simultaneously centered in stable load bearings of the basic frame with radial bearing play on all sides.

  • Patent number: 4277036
Abstract: Automatic wind-up roller for a safety belt with means to block the belt roller in case of danger. The wind-up roller has an automatic release mechanism which is activated when the vehicle exceeds a predetermined acceleration or deceleration. The automatic release mechanism when activated in turn activates a control element, wherein at least two locking pawls, preferably arranged at opposite sides of the belt shaft, are caused to interact with locking tooth means to block the belt roller. Means are provided to obtain simultaneous operation of both pawls by a single control element.

  • Patent number: 4258887
Abstract: Safety belt roll-up device with a release mechanism which in case of danger activates a control disk and locking means which block the belt shaft. A cam having an actuating dog for actuating the locking means is associated coaxially with the control disk and rotatable relative thereto. A spring holds the dog in a predetermined starting position relative to the control disk, which spring can be deflected resiliently relative to the control disk in opposite directions of rotation. Because of its ability to be deflected in oppsite directions, a single type roll-up device will serve where previously right and left devices are needed.

The belt anchor is supported movably relative to the vehicle body, and the belt anchor is coupled to a mass of a vehicle part which is arranged movably so as to execute a forced motion relative to the vehicle body if the vehicle hits an obstacle. The seat has a tiltably supported seat back frame which constitutes at least part of the mass, and wherein the belt anchor is linked-on to the lower part of the tiltably supported seat back frame. The mass is spring-loaded against motion relative to the vehicle body.

  • Patent number: 4254921
Abstract: A winding shaft in a belt roll-up device which has a locking element connected to the winding shaft and a blocking element fastened to the housing. The locking element comes into engagement with the blocking element by a force in the direction of the belt pull exerted upon the winding shaft such as occurs when the belt unwinds too rapidly. The belt is also prevented from completely unwinding by fastening the end of the belt to the winding shaft and by means for exerting a force on the winding shaft for making the locking element respond and engage the blocking element when the last approximately 530.degree. of turns of belt begin to unwind. Thus unwinding of about the last 1 1/2 turns of belt is prevented. This relieves the possible load and damage to the fastening of the end of the belt and to the winding shaft and permits a more economical, efficient design.

  • Patent number: 4232836
Abstract: Retightener with a pyrotechnic propellant charge for automatic safety-belt wind-up devices having an energy converter, wherein in the event of danger the explosive pressure of the ignited propellant charge acts on a pullout element tightening the safety belt around the body of the vehicle passenger to be protected via a liquid buffer arranged between the propellant charge and a pullback element. In accordance with the invention a receptacle which contains the liquid buffer is coupled to the winding shaft and rotates together with the latter. In the circumferential surface of the receptacle is at least one jet nozzle directed substantially tangentially to the axis of rotation and against a stationary guide ring surrounding the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4191400
Abstract: An improved anchor for the upper portion of a shoulder harness belt in a vehicle restraint system. An anchor member having a substantial force transmitting relationship with the shoulder harness belt, preferably through a webbing relay, has a certain degree of universal type movement, and therefore allows the anchor member and the webbing relay to make appropriate movements to follow the many odd angles and twists which the webbing relay may be subjected to. The anchorage is further designed to transmit high forces between the webbing relay and the frame of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4122584
Abstract: Lock for motor vehicle safety belts with a metallic base plate which has a recess in which a latching mechanism is supported so that it can be swung about an axis extending transversely to the insertion direction of a plug-in blade from the closed position by a pushbutton against the action of a spring. With insertion of the plug-in blade the locking mechanism snaps with a latching projection into an undercut of the plug-in blade to the closed position. The recess in the base plate is formed by punching free a lug, which bent out of the plane of the base plate is unitary with and spaced from the base plate forming a guide for the plug-in blade. Manufacture of such locks is simpler with savings in material. In addition the locks are lighter in weight.
