  • Patent number: 5115632
Abstract: A method is described of operating a ring spinning machine in which the traversing motion of the ring rail is generated by means of a heart-shaped disc. For the execution of specific functions which depend on the angular position of the heart-shaped disc, the period of rotation of the heart-shaped disc is first determined. Thereafter, a predetermined angular starting position of this heart-shaped disc is detected and, on the basis of the predetermined period of rotation, the time is then computed in each case from the occurrence of the angular starting position up to the occurrence of at least one further predetermined angular position which is associated with a respective function. On the expiration of the time associated with a respective angular position, the related function is executed.

  • Patent number: 5113123
Abstract: A ring spinning machine with various driving systems 10, 12 for driving spindles, driving arrangements, ring rails and the like is regulated in the case of power failure down to a zero revolution range while maintaining preselected revolution relationships. The driving system which is allocated to the load with the greatest effective inertia serves, at first, for the supply of the other driving system in a generator service. Only in a lower revolution range are the driving systems backed via a battery of relatively low capacity.

  • Patent number: 5109574
Abstract: The circular comb segment is constructed to leave a large free space at the front edge to avoid deflecting a tuft delivered from a nipper unit away from the foremost needles or clothing points at the front edge. The comb segment may be provided with recesses at the sides of the front edge to receive screws for fixing the segment to a comb roller or may be provided with projecting lugs for securement to a comb roller. In one embodiment, the lugs may be replaced by clamping plates which engage against a reduced lip at the front edge of the segment or engaged within a recess or groove at the front edge. In still another embodiment, the comb segment may be provided with an inwardly offset projection to be received in a recess of the roller and secured therein.

  • Patent number: 5096135
Abstract: A transport device serves for the delivery of a plurality of tubes wound with textile material to form laps, between a lap forming machine and a lap processing machine, by means of a transport truck. The transport truck possesses a tiltable receiver in which repose the laps. Viewed in the lengthwise direction of the laps, the latter are arranged behind and coaxially with respect to one another at a predetermined mutual spacing. With prior art devices, a number of manual operations are required to accomplish the exchange of laps and empty tubes. In particular, the empty tubes must be manually removed and intermediately stored at the lap processing machine before they can be manually placed upon the transport truck following mounting of the full laps.

  • Patent number: 5095586
Abstract: A combing head comprises carrying and drive rollers for the lap roll, a cylinder, a detaching roller pair and nippers reciprocable between a drawn-back position and an advanced position. When the trailing end of the lap material runs off the winding tube, the combing machine is stopped at a time after the detaching roller pair have detached a fringe from the lap in the nippers and after the fringe has been separated from the lap. The lap trailing end and the empty winding tube are then removed and a new lap roll is placed on the carrying and drive rollers. Lap material is unwound from the new lap roll until the start of the lap has passed beyond the nip line of the nippers. The combing machine then restarts. The method can, if required, be performed substantially or completely automatically and calls for only a short machine down time.

  • Patent number: 5083298
Abstract: A monitoring apparatus is described for the contact-free monitoring of a region adjacent to a service robot of a ring spinning machine. The apparatus includes an electro-acoustic converter for transmitting a sonic signal which is divided into a sonic measurement signal S.sub.SM and a sonic reference signal S.sub.SR. An electronic control unit delivers a fault signal if no sonic signal has been received by the expiry of a reference transit time. If, on the other hand, a sonic measurement signal is received prior to the expiry of the reference transit time, the control unit delivers a recognition signal to indicate the presence of an object in the monitored region.

  • Patent number: 5077865
Abstract: A textile machine is provided with apparatus for preparing the trailing end of a lap and a leading end of a fresh lap so that each end has a reduced fiber mass per unit length of lap in the prepared end. These lap ends are thereafter superimposed and joined together for subsequent processing in a combing unit of a combing machine or a drafting unit of a ribbon lap machine. The respective ends of the two laps may be prepared by a tearing action caused by clamping of the respective lap end between two spaced apart nip lines which are moved away from each other and wherein the spacing is slightly more than the length of the longest fiber in the lap. Preparation of a lap end may also be accomplished using a suction head for clamping of a lap along a nip line in order to carry out tearing of the lap to produced a prepared end.

  • Patent number: 5066854
Abstract: There are provided a method of and an apparatus for guiding a self-steering or driverless vehicle along an optical guideway. The hitherto known systems, which relate to optical scanning of an optical guideway by means of a light beam and which only transmit the signals "light" and "dark" with respect to detection of the optical guideway, are liable to disturbances and result in a too coarse or non-sensitive control. Therefore, it is suggested to scan the optical guideway by means of light pulses emitted in a predetermined frequency by sensors, whereby the intensity of the reflected light generates by means of an electronic evaluation unit a signal for controlling a steering or guiding mechanism. It is suggested to scan the optical guideway as an analog value by means of individual sensors arranged in a row and further process the determined values as digital values.

  • Patent number: 5060346
Abstract: The combing machine comprises a continuously rotatable circular-comb cylinder carrying a circular-comb segment and detaching segment. The detaching segment cooperates with a detaching pressure roll. The combing machine also contains a nipper unit comprising a lower nipper which is stationary relative to the axis of the continuously rotatable circular-comb cylinder, and an upper nipper which is movable relative to the lower nipper. The fibers detached by the detaching segment together with the detaching pressure roll are sucked as fiber clusters into a suction shaft or tube, or can be united to form a sliver at a rotatable screening or sieve drum. The suction shaft includes a flexible membrane to close the shaft. The combining machine is of simple construction and economical to manufacture and renders possible a high operating speed and, therefore, a higher output, particularly in the absence of a top comb between the lower nipper and the detaching pressure roll.

  • Patent number: 5046225
Abstract: A method for drawing a synthetic thread having a fibril bundle delivers the thread as a ribbon of substantially parallel fibrils through a drawing bath to effect a hydrodynamic braking of the filaments and simultaneous drawing of the filaments. A ceramic pin is used to form the fibrils into parallel relation and substantially in one plane. A second ceramic pin may also be used as a mechanical brake to add to the hydrodynamic braking action by the liquid in the drawing bath. The base and cover of the drawing device are provided with channels to define the flow path for the bath liquid as well as inlet and outlet channels for the liquid. Suction nozzles or air nozzles may be provided at the inlet and outlet ends of the flow paths to remove excess liquid from the fibrils.

  • Patent number: 5038439
Abstract: A suction tube extends in parallel between the licker-in and the feed plate of the co-direction feed device while a supply duct extends from the fiber lap delivery point to the suction tube. The suction tube and duct serve to remove dirt by suction and extraction at the delivery point where the fiber lap is delivered to the licker-in. The supply duct extends tangentially into the suction tube in order to maintain the entrained dirt particles in a helical flow in the tube.

  • Patent number: 5036967
Abstract: The gripper is movable in a path transverse to the bobbin tube supports of the magazine to be aligned with a bobbin tube. The gripper employs gripping elements which engage a limited arcuate accessible portion of a bobbin tube under a force sufficient to extract the tube during movement of the gripper to a retracted position. After release from the gripping elements a transfer chute directs a bobbin tube to a receiving apparatus for subsequent delivery to a machine needing same.
