Patent number: 4745379Abstract: An inhomogeneous ceramic dielectric microwave RF TEM resonator filter having a plurality of unplated notches in the ceramic for enhancing direct inter-resonator coupling. The filter is implemented without the lumped coupling capacitors which are typically associated with each resonator of a TEM resonator filter. Furthermore, the launching resonators which are typically used to couple in and out of the filter are eliminated by using coaxial probe capacitors inserted in each of the end resonators. The non-end resonators can be made to look as long as the end resonators, with probes therein, by including a conductor pad disposed upon the block top surface and connecting the internal plating of the non-end resonators.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1987Date of Patent: May 17, 1988Assignee: Rockwell International Corp.Inventors: James B. Patent number: 4627047Abstract: An improvement is disclosed for telecommunication PCM time division multiplex switching systems of the type having voice access ports, each with a voice path and a signalling path, and having PCM signalling and voice transmit buses to carry information to a switching network. From the network, PCM voice receive buses carry switched voice information to be demultiplexed, converted to analog form and connected to the voice port. A signalling bus carries information from the switching network to registers. The system is improved to enable it to switch data as well as voice information. A data port is provided to accompany each voice port, and the improved system includes means for multiplexing input data at the port and inserting it on the signalling transmit bus once the signalling portion of a call is completed. A receive data bus connects the signalling receive bus to means for demultiplexing data and presenting it to receive data ports.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1982Date of Patent: December 2, 1986Assignee: Rockwell International Corp.Inventors: Satyan G. Patent number: 4613730Abstract: Automated telephones with electronic circuits for outputting dial digit sequences respectively corresponding to different ones of a plurality of user's switches when each switch is momentarily actuated. The circuits permit speed dialing of (i) directory numbers, (ii) tandem sequences for accessing outside centers and specific line numbers, and (iii) access or feature codes. The apparatus is characterized especially by devices to create automatically loop breaks to simulate either a hook flash or a re-seize on-hook condition in certain circumstances and despite the fact that the telephone remains off-hook. By simple wire connections between a master or "secretary's" telephone and each of the member's phone sets within a limited group, intelligence signals are interchanged to provide "key line group" action without an elaborate, separate "control box" and even though each telephone of the group is served by the central system only via its own two-wire line.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1980Date of Patent: September 23, 1986Assignee: Rockwell International Corp.Inventors: William A. Patent number: 4575360Abstract: A slip type driveline assembly with a one piece sealing member to prevent loss and contamination of lubricant. The slip type assembly is generally of a sliding spline design. A spline plug is fitted into a slip yoke with an internal spline that generally mates with the external spline of the spline plug. A tube and weld yoke assembly is generally pressure fit and welded to the spline plug. Universal joint assemblies are attached to each yoke completing the assembly. The splined cavity within the slip yoke generally contains lubricants and is sealed by a plug and a seal which keeps the lubricants in and contaminants out. The sealing member is made of a resilient material and is of one piece construction. The sealing member has a cylindrical wall and integral radially inwardly extending circumferential annulus. The wall and annulus generally complement and mate with the cylindrical end of the slip yoke that has a groove on its surface to receive the annulus.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1983Date of Patent: March 11, 1986Assignee: Rockwell International Corp.Inventor: Ronald N. Patent number: 4558291Abstract: A circuit capable of vector magnitude control and phase reversal for a radio signal such as an intermediate frequency signal. The circuit includes an inverting signal path and a noninverting signal path and means for selecting between the two. Further, a variable attenuation controllable from a function control input establishes the magnitude of the output signal vector. There is also disclosed a phase shifter employing two such circuits. In the phase shifter, a radio signal vector to be shifted is applied to the inputs of the two circuits, with a 90.degree. shift between the two inputs. With proper vector magnitude and phase reversal control of the two circuits, there can be provided a preselected phase shift in any quadrant.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1982Date of Patent: December 10, 1985Assignee: Rockwell International Corp.Inventor: Richard A. Patent number: 4372191Abstract: In a rotary braiding machine, a sleeve having a rounded forward portion is mounted on a stationary guide cylinder located on the center axis of the machine. The sleeve is driven reciprocatingly in the axial direction by a push rod which is coupled throgh a gear reduction mechanism to the ring gear of the machine so that the reciprocation of the sleeve is in timed relation with the rotation of the machine. The yarn or wire strand is supplied from two sets of bobbins which are driven along circular paths in opposing directions. When the reciprocating sleeve is in its retracted or rearward position, crossed strands from the bobbins approach the forward edge of the stationary guide cylinder. As the crossed strands reach the stationary guide cylinder, the reciprocating sleeve moves to its forward position lifting the strands away from the forward edge of the stationary guide cylinder. The rate of reciprocation of the sleeve is preferably in time with the crossings.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1982Date of Patent: February 8, 1983Assignee: Rockwell International Corp.Inventors: Vincent A. Patent number: 4371924Abstract: A computer system apparatus is disclosed for improved handling of requests by a peripheral device for data from memory. The apparatus serially receives multiple memory addresses from which data is requested by the peripheral device, and makes a determination that the received addresses form a sequence in memory. Upon this determination, the apparatus begins prefetching data from addresses anticipated to be received from the peripheral device, as an extension of the address sequence received. This prefetching of data, without waiting for an anticipated address to actually be received from the peripheral device, permits the apparatus of the invention to be simultaneously performing reads to memory and communication with the requesting peripheral device. This decreases the access time on the peripheral bus, providing increased bus rates and thereby improving computing throughput.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1979Date of Patent: February 1, 1983Assignee: Rockwell International Corp.Inventors: Marcus J. Patent number: 4330868Abstract: A microwave frequency converter is provided by a single mixer of the diode-quad bridge type which circulates generated image frequency within the bridge. The bridge is connected between balun coupled RF microstrip conductors and unbalanced LO microstrip conductors. There is zero connection length between the diode pairs to reduce conversion loss by preventing a phase shift between the image frequencies. Mutual isolation is provided between the RF, LO and IF signals over a broad frequency range. In an alternate utilization, the converter accepts transposed RF and LO signals, for broader bandwidth operation. The circuit may also be implemented as an up converter.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1980Date of Patent: May 18, 1982Assignee: Rockwell International Corp.Inventor: Ben R. Hallford
