Abstract: A Cartesian coordinate tracing table for entering a program into a memory of an automatically controlled machine. The tabel has guide bars extending in the X and Y directions. Two rotary generators which are responsive to movement of a cursor in the X and Y directions generate electrical signals for transmission to a memory. One rotary pulse generator is mounted on a carriage movable along the guide bar extending in the X direction. The other rotary pulse generator is mounted on a cursor slidable along the guide bar extending in the Y direction which in turn is mounted on the carriage. Each rotary pulse generator includes a rotatable shaft having a driving roller which contacts a guide bar to provide the driving force to the generator.

  • Patent number: 4321296
Abstract: A laminated glazing with electrical wires embedded in a thermoplastic interlayer is disclosed. The glazing is made of an interlayer of transparent or translucent thermoplastic material in which a network of electrical wires is embedded, the interlayer being in contact with a solid or laminated substrate containing at least one rigid sheet and with a layer of nonrigid plastic material, the thickness of which is usually less than one millimeter, this latter layer preferably being positioned on one of the surfaces of the glazing and preferably having self-healing and antilacerative properties. A prefabricated sheet containing the network of electrical wires can be used in the manufacture of the glazing. The wires can be of a relatively high resistance so that the glazing is heated when electrical current is passed through the wires or the wires can form part of an alarm system that signals breakage of the glazing.

  • Patent number: 4316865
Abstract: A technique is disclosed for heat treatment of fibrous mats, especially mats formed of mineral fibers such as glass and carrying a heat hardenable binder material, such as a thermosetting resin. The method disclosed provides for continuous feed of the mat through a curing or treating oven having a plurality of heat treatment zones. In one form of the method, the heat treatment in at least one zone is effected by circulation of a heated gas, such as air, through the mat in said zone, and the mat is also subjected to heat treatment in a localized area lying within said zone by passage of a second heated gas through the mat, the second heated gas having a pressure higher than that in the surrounding portions of said zone.

  • Patent number: 4290544
Abstract: A mirror mounting is described in which a plane rectangular reflecting strip is deformed along the two longer edges thereof so that it is approximately tangent to the ideal mirror while the strip remains substantially flat in the direction of its shorter edges. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, a plurality of such reflecting strips are so formed by attachment to a supporting frame using a pair of elastomeric cushion frames to embrace the longer sides of each strip while leaving the shorter sides free. Advantageously, each reflecting strip on the frame is bent in a continuous manner the full distance of its longer side. The frame is preferably a rigid array of parallel channel members each of which is adapted to receive a curved T-section angle bar having the desired curvature of the reflecting strip. The angle bars are deformed into this curvature in a separate operation while they are being attached to the channel members.
