  • Patent number: 7697236
Abstract: The invention includes a disk damper containing an extended area located on the upstream side of the head stack assembly. The extended area is joined to a tail section. In the extended area, the disk damper provides a wall near the neighboring rotating disk surface that extends from the outside diameter to the inside diameter of the rotating disk surface. Experimental results have shown that this provides much more consistent dampening of disk vibrations and vibrations of a head stack assembly positioned anywhere from the inside diameter to the outside diameter. The hard disk drive including the disk damper. Using the disk damper in a hard disk drive to improve the reliability of the hard disk drive during track following. Making the hard disk drive using the disk damper, and the hard disk drive as a product of that manufacturing process.

Abstract: A digital broadcasting transmission and/or reception system having an improved reception performance and a signal-processing method thereof. A digital broadcasting transmitter comprises a TRS encoder for to TRS-encode a MPEG-2 transmission stream having null data for inserting a Known data and a TRS parity at predetermined positions, randomizer to input and randomize data stream from the TRS encoder, a null packet exchanger to replace the null data for inserting the Known data to the known data, and an encoder for encoding a data streams to which the Known data is inserted. Accordingly, the present invention detects the known data from a signal received from a reception side and uses the detected known data for synchronization and equalization and further uses the TRS parity for correcting error of the received signal, so that the digital broadcasting reception performance can be improved at poor multipath channels.

  • Patent number: 7206160
Abstract: Read-write head flying height controlled through micro-actuator assembly. Flying height controlled using DC line and ground line. Lateral position controlled using them and AC line. Micro-actuator assembly operates through three terminals coupled with these lines. Head gimbal assembly contains micro-actuator assembly mechanically coupling to slider with read-write head. Actuator arm includes at least one head gimbal assembly. Actuator arm assembly includes at least one actuator arm. Voice coil actuator includes actuator assembly. Hard disk drive containing voice coil actuator. Electrical interface circuit includes ground port, DC port, and AC port, for micro-actuator assembly. Servo controller drives micro-actuator assembly to control flying height and lateral position, preferably including electrical interface circuit. Manufacturing head gimbal assembly, actuator arm, actuator assembly, voice coil actuator, and hard disk drive, and products of these manufacturing processes.

Abstract: A portable terminal device, which employs a display unit utilizing a holographic screen, a main housing, a holographic screen, and an optical system. The holographic screen is disposed at a predetermined portion of the main housing while being exposed to an exterior of the main housing. The holographic screen optically displays information by means of image-light which is projected to the holographic screen. The optical system is spaced apart from the holographic screen and provides the holographic screen with the image-light.

  • Publication number: 20010023491
Abstract: A device for testing a digital signal processor in a DVD (Digital Video Disc) reproducing apparatus. The test device includes a computer for generating test data for testing the digital signal processor, and displaying test results on a screen thereof; a track buffer for storing data processed by the digital signal processor and the test results for the digital signal processor; and an interface for transferring the test data output from the computer to the digital signal processor, and reading out the test results from the track buffer to transfer the read test results to the computer. Further, the test device includes a switch for alternately switching the track buffer to the interface and the digital signal processor on a basis of time division, so as to allow the digital signal processor to write the test results in the track buffer and the interface to read the test results stored in the track buffer.
