Abstract: Systems for algae-based water filtration and algae harvesting are described herein. A flow-way comprises a channel and a divider positioned within the channel that separates the channel into sub-channels. The flow-way further includes an algal growth that grows on a sidewall of the channel and/or the divider. The algal growth can be established in the flow-way by positioning a pre-seeded mesh element within the channel, the pre-seeded mesh element having an algae culture growing thereon prior to positioning the pre-seeded mesh within the channel. A harvesting system comprises a hinged container that includes a straining screen. The hinged container is positioned downstream from a flow-way and receives water from the flow-way. Biomass in the water is strained by and accumulates on the screen. Weight of the accumulated biomass causes the hinged container to tip and deposit the accumulated biomass in a second container.

Abstract: A quantum communication system includes a first quantum transceiver, a second quantum transceiver, and a quantum communication mediator (QCM) system. The transceivers have different resonant frequencies or physical systems. The QCM system receives an initial quantum signal from the first quantum transceiver. The QCM system transfers a quantum state of the initial quantum signal to a first mechanical signal and then from the first mechanical signal to a first pair of optical signals by way of a first three-wave mixing process. The QCM transfers the quantum state to a second pair of optical signals from the first pair by way of a four-wave mixing process. The QCM transfers the quantum state from the second pair of optical signals to a second mechanical signal by way of a second three-wave mixing process. The QCM transfers the quantum state from the second mechanical signal to a final quantum signal by mechanical transduction.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems, methods and tools that measure ionic concentrations and downhole enthalpy of a flowing geothermal fluid in real-time at high-temperature and pressure. The systems, methods and tools include measuring the concentration of selected naturally occurring ions found in the liquid phase of the geothermal fluid throughout the wellbore using novel electrochemical sensor technologies. The change in liquid-phase ion concentration will be used to calculate the proportion of liquid to steam and allow for accurate enthalpy measurements. The techniques and technologies described here can be applied to any application of electrochemical sensing in extreme environments.
