  • Publication number: 20180363177
Abstract: A patterned hydroentangled nonwoven sheet material contains at least 25 wt. % of cellulosic pulp, in which a surface area of between 1 and 20% of at least one surface has been imprinted to form a decorative or informative pattern discernible by at least one of visual or tactile differences between imprinted and non-imprinted areas. The patterned nonwoven sheet material can be produced by forming a fibrous web including thermoplastic fibres and cellulosic pulp, hydroentangling the fibrous web to form a nonwoven sheet material and drying, and then subjecting the dried nonwoven sheet material to an imprinting action provided by an energy transmitter, in particular using ultrasonic energy, on a patterned anvil at a temperature of less than 100° C. to form a patterned nonwoven sheet material.
