  • Patent number: 6817484
Abstract: The invention relates to a container for a stack of interfolded tissue sheets. The container has a generally planar bottom wall and a top wall and side walls connecting the bottom wall with the top wall. An opening is provided in the top wall for the removal of the tissue-sheets from the container, which opening is wider than the width of the tissue-sheets. The stack of interfolded tissue-sheets is placed in the container with a lowermost tissue-sheet placed on the bottom wall and an uppermost tissue-sheet placed near or in contact with the top wall and adjacent to the opening in the top wall. The opening is provided with a positioning feature having elongated, overlapping projections extending from opposite sides of the opening in order to allow the uppermost tissue-sheet to be dispensed, holding it substantially flat. The invention also relates to a method for producing the positioning feature.

  • Publication number: 20040163783
Abstract: A method for producing a multi-ply web of flexible material, such as paper and nonwoven material. At least one first ply is separately embossed by a first embossing means to form a plurality of crests and depressions and is combined with at least one second ply. After combining the first and second plies, they are brought into a nip between a spiked roll and a smooth rigid roll, the spiked roll having a plurality of protuberances which are adapted to press together the first and second plies in points or spots to cause a mechanical ply bonding between the at least two plies. The first embossing means and the spiked roll are in register with each other so that the protuberances of the spiked roll will hit at least some of the depressions of the ply facing the spiked roll. The invention also refers to a multi-ply web produced by the method.

  • Publication number: 20040166290
Abstract: In a process for laminating plies of tissue paper, at least two plies of tissue paper are combined and are embossed together in at least one embossing nip so that they are provided with substantially identical embossing patterns which consist of embossing protrusions. The embossed plies are then separated, and the separated plies are then displaced relatively to each other and are recombined. In the resultant recombined tissue, the maximum distance D in the displacement direction between an embossing protrusion of a first ply and an embossing protrusion of a second ply, which has been displaced relatively to said first ply, is set as a function of the height H of the embossing protrusions and the length L of the embossing protrusions in the displacement direction of the two plies, so that D is equal to the smaller one of the values of 12H and 14L.

The second outer ply (14) is provided with a second microstructure pattern (22) also having a density of second protuberances of more than 40 protuberances/cm2. A middle ply (16) is sandwiched between the first outer ply (12) and the second outer ply (14) and has a third structure pattern being an embossing pattern with a density of less than 40 protuberances/cm2. All three plies are ply bonded (24) together after the first outer ply, the second outer ply and the middle ply have been structured separately.

  • Patent number: 6729869
Abstract: An embossing device for embossing a single-ply or multi-ply web of tissue paper includes a first steel roll with embossing protuberances on its peripheral surface and a second roll with a yielding layer on its peripheral surface. The second roll cooperates with the steel roll so as to form an embossing nip therewith. The steel roll and the second roll run in synchronization. The second roll has individual zones on its peripheral surface with a higher overall thickness and/or different material characteristics of the yielding layer compared to that of the remaining peripheral surface. These individual zones are opposed in the embossing nip to embossing protuberances of the steel roll.
