  • Patent number: 4709896
Abstract: The invention is a suspension system for a vehicle seat with structural features allowing the suspension to be contained within the confined space available in recreational vehicles and light trucks. The invention includes a generally horizontal moveable platform pivotally attached at one end to a side of a seat frame. An air spring and shock absorber are mounted between the frame and the bottom of the seat to resiliently bias and damp the platform and therefore the occupant's vertical movement. The pivotal attachment is as far as possible from the center of the seat to permit maximum movement of the platform in an arc which closely approximates a straight, substantially vertical line. Means for automatically adjusting the suspension for occupants of different weights is included.

  • Patent number: 4501541
Abstract: A mold assembly for molding a cushion article, such as a seat cushion or the like, for snapping in place onto an appropriate seat support without additional attaching means. The seat cushion has a foam body with a snap-ring member molded integral with a peripheral portion of the body, the snap-ring member providing means for snapping the seat cushion over the seat support. A mold assembly is disclosed for molding the seat cushion, utilizing the snap-ring member as an integral part of the process, and a mold assembly to evacuate entrapped air from the mold cavity.

  • Patent number: 4455009
Abstract: An adjustable seat mounting mechanism is provided between a base part and a seat support part mounted for relative fore and aft movement. An adjustment mechanism is operatively associated between the base part and the seat support part for effecting adjustment between a locking mode preventing the fore and aft movement, an isolation mode permitting limited oscillatory movement between the base part and the seat part, and an unlocking mode to permit full fore and aft adjustment of the seat. A single manually manipulatable member is provided, movable with the seat, for effecting adjustment between the three modes.

  • Patent number: 4241893
Abstract: An adjustable seat assembly particularly adapted for a mobile vehicle which permits the seat to be moved fore-and-aft, laterally side-to-side, vertically and rotationally. A latch is provided for selectively preventing and permitting rotation of the seat and other portions of the seat assembly relative to a fixed pedestal. A projection is mounted to the bottom of the seat at a predetermined aft position and predetermined lateral position. Guide means such as a rigid barrier is positioned to abut the latch release projection and slidably guide the seat toward the predetermined lateral position as the seat moves toward the predetermined aft position, thereby directing the release projection to the latch and permitting the seat to be released for rotation by pushing the seat aft from any lateral or longitudinal position.

  • Patent number: 4045082
Abstract: A first separable pivot is at the height of the pelvis of an occupant and has a guide for supporting a back rest while the support thereof is being transferred from the first separable pivot to a second separable pivot near the bottom of the back rest. A pin secured to the back rest is positioned in a toothed slot for different positions of tilt while the first pivot is engaged and during folding is positioned in an adjusting arcuate slot for maintaining the second pivot engaged.
