  • Patent number: 5466119
Abstract: A stack of parts, such as the stator disks of a turbomolecular pump, the parts being stacked alternately with spacers, includes a spacer having a knife-shaped deformable portion. When the stack is installed for the first time, the portion is compressed so as to take up the tolerances of the stack between abutment surfaces, e.g. delimited by a pump body and a corresponding casing. The invention applies in particular to turbomolecular pumps and aims to eliminate the operations of adjustment, re-machining, or matching that are usually required when installing a stator assembly.

  • Patent number: 5448015
Abstract: Two identical components assembled together constitute a guide rack for optical cables fixed at the bottom of a subrack fitted with circuit boards. Optical jumpers are guided between support members and guide members. Each optical cable is easily positioned pending connection with its terminal connector part resting between two support members. This avoids tangling of the optical jumpers and ensures that any of the cables connected to the front panel of any circuit board can be replaced by the cable put into the waiting position without risk of confusion.

  • Patent number: 5309266
Abstract: A photonic switching matrix comprises a plurality of wavelength converters at respective inputs of the matrix to assign a wavelength to each cell applied to an input of the matrix. An optical buffer common to all the outputs of the matrix stores each cell for a duration selectable between 0 and k.T.sub.c where k is an integer and T.sub.c is the duration of cell. A space routing stage comprises a filter for each output of the matrix passing to a given output only cells having a given wavelength. The converters and the buffer are controlled according to routing information indicating for each cell the output of the matrix to which said cell is addressed and for selecting the duration for which each cell is stored in the buffer so as to construct a queue for each output to avoid conflicts between two cells to be switched to the same output presented at the same time as the input of the switching matrix. The switching matrix has applications in telecommunication networks.

  • Patent number: 4991666
Abstract: The edge terminal pad is intended to receive a connection pin (30). It has two tinnable area solder blobs (17, 18) placed overlying each other on opposite faces of a margin of a substrate (10) at locations which are grasped by the claws (33, 34, 35) of the pin (30), with said claws forming the jaws of a resilient clamp. The tinnable area solder blob (17, 18) are notched by grooves (19, 20) at the locations of slide paths followed by the claws (33, 34, 35) while the pin (30) is being put into place. For a pin (30) having three claws with the combined width of all three claws being the same as the width of a terminal pad, one of the pad's tinnable area solder blobs (17) is generally U-shaped, while the other (18) is generally T-shaped. The advantage of the grooves is to restrict the amounts by which the clamp of the pin needs to open and to automatically center the pin on the pad, providing the pin is put into place after the tinnable areas (17, 18) have already been tinned.

  • Patent number: 4943985
Abstract: A frame synchronization device for a synchronous digital bit stream divided into blocks by means of a block code and structured in frames comprises a frame alignment word configuration recognition circuit generating for each recognized configuration a recognition signal that is directed to a frame alignment acquisition control circuit through the intermediary of a configuration selection circuit. This circuit operates under the control of a time window definition circuit driven by a block timebase and a frame timebase and is adapted to select only recognition signals corresponding to alignment word configurations correctly placed relative to the blocks. The sorting done by the configuration selector eliminates most imitation alignment words and therefore accelerates significantly the synchronization process.
