  • Patent number: 11265878
Abstract: A wireless access node serves a wireless User Equipment (UE) over a Primary Component Carrier (PCC) and Secondary Component Carriers (SCCs). The wireless access node receives a report from the wireless UE indicating radio frequency bands and their received signal strengths. The wireless access node identifies the radio frequency bands that have adequate received signal strength. The wireless access node determines amounts of Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) layers for the identified radio frequency bands. The wireless access node selects one of the identified radio frequency bands that has a larger amount of the MIMO layers. The wireless access node exchanges user data and network signaling with the wireless UE over the selected frequency band to serve the PCC to the UE. The wireless access node transfers additional user data to the UE to serve the SCCs to the UE.

  • Patent number: 11265957
Abstract: A Central Unit (CU) receives Fifth Generation Core (5GC) N2 signaling and generates Fifth Generation New Radio (5GNR) RRC signaling. The CU receives 5GC N1 signaling. The CU converts a first portion of the 5GNR RRC signaling into LTE RRC signaling and converts a first portion of the 5GC N1 signaling into LTE Non-Access Signaling (NAS). The CU transfers LTE Physical Layer High (PHY-H) signaling to an LTE Physical Layer Low (PHY-L) in an LTE Distributed Unit (DU). The CU transfers 5GNR PHY-H signaling to an 5GNR PHY-L in a 5GNR DU. The LTE DU receives the LTE PHY-H signaling and transfers the LTE RRC signaling and the LTE NAS signaling to LTE User Equipment (UE). The 5GNR DU receives the 5GNR PHY-H signaling and transfers the second portion of the 5GNR RRC signaling and the second portion of the 5GC N1 signaling to a 5GNR UE.

  • Patent number: 11265944
Abstract: A wireless access node simultaneously serves wireless User Equipment (UE) over Fifth Generation New Radio (5GNR) and Long Term Evolution (LTE). A baseband unit splits user data into a 5GNR portion and an LTE portion per a dynamic 5GNR/LTE split. A 5GNR radio wirelessly transfers the 5GNR portion to the wireless UE. An LTE radio wirelessly transfers the LTE portion to the wireless UE. The baseband unit corrects LTE and 5GNR transmission errors and determines a 5GNR Block Error Rate (BLER) and an LTE BLER. The baseband unit modifies the dynamic 5GNR/LTE split based on the difference between the 5GNR BLER and the LTE BLER. The baseband unit splits additional user data into 5GNR and LTE portions per the modified 5GNR/LTE split.

  • Patent number: 11218889
Abstract: A wireless communication network serves a wireless User Equipment (UE) and comprises a wireless access node and a support access node. The wireless access node determines a sector power ratio for the support access node. The wireless access node determines an add threshold for the support access node based on the sector power ratio for the support access node. The wireless access node determines an add value for the support access node and determines when the add value is greater than the add threshold. When the add value is greater than the add threshold, the wireless access node signals the support access node to serve the wireless UE and signals the wireless UE to attach to the support access node.
