Abstract: A device having a surface which is adapted to be gripped by a user wherein the surface reduces slippage at the user's hand. The surface geometry of the handle portion substantially reduces slippage that can occur when an instrument is in use. Preferably, the hand held instrument is a knife. The surface of the handle is covered with protuberances having angled planar surfaces which create a plurality of apexes designed to minimize hand slippage.
Abstract: The present invention relates to cutting instruments, and more particularly folding knives which have a blade which travels between a first extended position coextensive with the knife handle and a second closed position with the knife blade at least partially recessed within a portion of the knife handle. More specifically, the present invention relates to secondary locking mechanisms to substantially prevent the knife blade from closing if the primary locking mechanism fails.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sharpening a knife, scissors or other tool using a multi-angled sharpening device. The apparatus generally comprises a one-piece support structure with abrasive opposing legs which can be modulated between first and second sharpening positions to sharpen the opposing surfaces of a blade. Alternatively, the apparatus can be supported on either the first or second leg to sharpen scissors on the opposing leg.
Abstract: The present invention relates to compact tools, and more specifically hand tools which have various interconnectable implements for performing numerous functions. In one aspect of the present invention the combined tool has opposing handles which may be used in at least 3 distinct positions to increase the versatility of the tool, as well as the ability of the opposing handles being alternated between various positions of use with only the use of one hand.
Abstract: A rope-like instrument comprising hook and loop fabric to facilitate self-attachment. The instrument wraps about itself to form a closed loop, in place of forming a knot in the rope.
Abstract: A folding knife having an aperture positioned at or near the pivot point of the knife blade and knife handle to receive a lanyard for removable attachment to a user of the folding knife or other object.
Abstract: A knife having a reversible clip for securing the knife to a user. The clip is advantageously reversible so that the knife can be mounted in the position most comfortable for the user. The clip can be easily reversed and is designed to reduce undesirable rotation of the clip and also to provide a lanyard hole for otherwise securing the knife to the user or another supporting member.
