  • Patent number: 7155672
Abstract: Methods and system for dynamic font subsetting. One or more directives are inserted into electronic content to identify one or more glyph sub-sets needed to display the multiple characters in one or more desired languages for electronic content. A directive identifies a glyph sub-set including set of glyphs identified in the electronic content and an encoding scheme used to encode the set of glyphs. The glyph sub-set identifies only those glyphs needed to display the electronic content. When electronic content with the one or more directives is processed the one or more directives are identified. If the electronic device does not have the glyph sub-sets needed to display the electronic content, requests are sent to an intermediate network device to obtain glyph sub-sets. These method and system may allow an electronic device with limited resources, such as a wireless telephone, personal digital assistant, network appliance, set-top box, etc.

  • Patent number: 6925595
Abstract: Method and system for content conversion of electronic data using data mining. A user is able select one or more hypertext elements from one or more hypertext electronic document for conversion based on user conversion preferences. For example, a user selects one or more display elements from one or more “web-pages” from the World-Wide-Web on the Internet or an intranet. The hypertext elements are extracted from one or more hypertext electronic documents and converted into a format suitable for display on a user device based on user conversion preferences. Selected hypertext elements are extracted and converted using data mining conversion operations. The data mining conversion operations allow a user to extract only desired display information displayed from a hypertext element and convert the display information into a format different than that defined for the original electronic document.

  • Patent number: 5884033
Abstract: A client-based filtering system compares portions of incoming and/or outgoing messages to filtering information in a filter database, and determines whether to block or allow incoming and/or outgoing transmissions of messages in response to the comparison. In response to a match between the portion of the message and the filtering information, the system can employ one of a number of different specified blocking options. The system has an update server that is accessible over the Internet and that has new filtering information for updating the filter database. The filter database can have a filter database stored on a server in a network coupled to the client.
