Abstract: A laser generating device including a housing and a laser module assembly. The laser module assembly is at least partially housed in the housing. The laser module includes a laser module. The laser module includes a laser generator, a transparent member and a cone member. The laser generator generates a laser beam which is directed towards a cone member. The cone member reflects the laser beam into a laser line. The transparent member has a generally cylindrical shape. The cone member includes a cone section including a reflecting surface and the cone section is located inside the transparent member. The cone member further includes a connection portion, the connection portion including a flange. The flange is located outside the transparent member at an outer surface of the transparent member.
Abstract: A hand tool comprising a head portion, a shaft, and a grip component is provided. The shaft is attached to or integral with the head portion, and the grip component is disposed around the shaft. The grip component and the shaft form a handle of the hand tool. The grip component comprises an external portion molded from a first thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material or thermoplastic urethane (TPU) material, and an inner portion molded from a second TPE material or TPU material. The first TPE or TPU material has a first level of hardness, and the second TPE or TPU material has a lower level of hardness. The inner portion is disposed around the shaft, and the external portion forms a shell around the inner portion and is an exposed user contact surface. The grip component is attached to the shaft via at least a mechanical fastener.

Abstract: This disclosure describes a stud sensor configured to locate a stud. The stud sensor includes a housing and a sensor carried by the housing. The sensor includes two or more electrodes. The two or more electrodes are configured to form a substantially circular configuration. The stud sensor further comprises one or more processors carried by the housing. The one or more processors are communicatively coupled with the sensor. The one or more processors are configured by machine-readable instructions to calculate a stud location by measuring a change in capacitance from a fixed capacitance of a wall structure as the stud sensor is moved along a surface of the wall structure; and generate one or more signals to report a result relating to a location of a stud.

Abstract: A level includes an end cap releasably attached to a level body. The end cap is configured to be inserted in, and withdrawn from, the level body with a sliding fit. Accordingly, the end cap can be withdrawn from the level body simply by squeezing with the fingers of one hand two opposing actuators formed in the end cap against the bias of respective living hinges to release detents from detent apertures formed in opposing side walls of the level body, and then using the same hand to slide the end cap out of the level body without having to touch the level body with either hand.
Abstract: A tape rule having a housing, a hub, a reel, a tape, a spring, and a motor. The hub and reel are rotatably mounted within the housing. The tape is wound around the reel. The spring is wound around the hub and is attached to at least one of the reel and the tape. The motor is disposed adjacent to the hub and is configured, when activated, to rotate the hub to adjust an amount by which the spring is wound around the hub.
Abstract: A laser beam generating device includes a housing a first laser diode which generates a visible first output beam which projects outside of the housing onto a surface and a second laser diode which generates a visible second output beam which projects outside of the housing onto the surface. The laser beam generating device has a first mode in which the first laser diode and the second laser diode are both on. In the first mode, the first laser diode is operated at a first duty cycle the second laser diode is operated at a second duty cycle. The first duty cycle and the second duty cycle are staggered.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, a tape measure comprises an accessory removably coupleable to either side of the housing. According to another embodiment, a tape measure comprises an accessory removably coupleable to the housing via a locking mechanism that holds the accessory at a plurality of desired orientations. According to another embodiment, a tape measure comprises a slide lock, where movement of the slide lock from a locked position into an unlocked position requires depression of the actuator towards the interior of the housing. According to another embodiment, a motor assembly for a tape measure comprises a backer plate, a motor body, and a spring, where a bond is applied therebetween. According to another embodiment, a motor assembly for a tape measure comprises a motor body and a spring, where one of a metallurgical bond or an adhesive is applied between the motor body and the spring.
