Publication number: 20190346343Abstract: A statistical method is used to separate periodic from non-periodic vibration peaks in autocorrelation spectra. Generally, an autocorrelation spectrum is not normally distributed because the amplitudes of periodic peaks are significantly large and random relative to the generally Gaussian noise. In a normally distributed signal, the statistical parameter kurtosis has a value of 3. The method sequentially removes each largest amplitude peak from the peaks in the spectrum until the kurtosis is 3 or less. The removed peaks, which are all considered to be periodic, are placed into a set. The total energy of the peaks in the set is considered to be the total periodic energy of the spectrum. As the process of building the peak set proceeds, if its total energy becomes greater than or equal to a predefined energy threshold before its kurtosis reaches 3 or less, the process stops and the periodic peak set is defined.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2019Publication date: November 14, 2019Applicant: Computational Systems, Inc.Inventors: Stewart V. Patent number: 10474548Abstract: An illustrative “VM heartbeat monitoring network” of heartbeat monitor nodes monitors target VMs in a data storage management system. Accordingly, target VMs are distributed and re-distributed among illustrative worker monitor nodes according to preferences in an illustrative VM distribution logic. Worker heartbeat monitor nodes use an illustrative ping monitoring logic to transmit special-purpose heartbeat packets to respective target VMs and to track ping responses. If a target VM is ultimately confirmed failed by its worker monitor node, an illustrative master monitor node triggers an enhanced storage manager to initiate failover for the failed VM. The enhanced storage manager communicates with the heartbeat monitor nodes and also manages VM failovers and other storage management operations in the system. Special features for cloud-to-cloud failover scenarios enable a VM in a first region of a public cloud to fail over to a second region.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2017Date of Patent: November 12, 2019Assignee: Commvault Systems, Inc.Inventors: Santhosh Sanakkayala, Sarath Cheriyan Joseph, Ananda Venkatesha, Rajesh Polimera, Rahul S. Patent number: 10474465Abstract: A pipelined run-to-completion processor executes a pop stack absolute instruction. The instruction includes an opcode, an absolute pointer value, a flag don't touch bit, and predicate bits. If a condition indicated by the predicate bits is not true, then the opcode operation is not performed. If the condition is true, then the stack of the processor is popped thereby generating an operand A. The absolute pointer value is used to identify a particular register of the stack, and the content of that particular register is an operand B. The arithmetic logic operation specified by the opcode is performed using operand A and operand B thereby generating a result, and the content of the particular register is replaced with the result. If the flag don't touch bit is set to a particular value, then the flag bits (carry flag and zero flag) are not affected by the instruction execution.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2014Date of Patent: November 12, 2019Assignee: Netronome Systems, Inc.Inventor: Gavin J. Patent number: 10474958Abstract: We have invented a process and method for creating a general-purpose adaptive or static machine-learning classifier using prediction by partial matching (PPM) language modeling. This classifier can incorporate homogeneous or heterogeneous feature types; variable-size contexts; sequential or non-sequential features. Features are ordered (linearized) by information saliency; and truncation of least-informative context is used for backoff to handle previously unseen events. Labels may be endogenous (from within the group) or exogenous (outside the group) of the feature types. Classification may generate labels and their probabilities; or only labels. Classification stores may be complete or minimized where redundant states are removed producing significant space savings and performance improvements. Classifiers may be static (unchanging) or online (adaptive or updatable incrementally or in batch). PPM classifiers may be incorporated in ensembles of other PPM classifiers or different machine learning algorithms.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2015Date of Patent: November 12, 2019Assignee: Information Extraction Systems, Inc.Inventor: Alwin B Carus

Patent number: 10474483Abstract: Virtual machine (VM) proliferation may be reduced through the use of Virtual Server Agents (VSAs) assigned to a group of VM hosts that may determine the availability of a VM to perform a task. Tasks may be assigned to existing VMs instead of creating a new VM to perform the task. Furthermore, a VSA coordinator may determine a grouping of VMs or VM hosts based on one or more factors associated with the VMs or the VM hosts, such as VM type or geographical location of the VM hosts. The VSA coordinator may also assign one or more VSAs to facilitate managing the group of VM hosts. In some embodiments, the VSA coordinators may facilitate load balancing of VSAs during operation, such as during a backup operation, a restore operation, or any other operation between a primary storage system and a secondary storage system.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2018Date of Patent: November 12, 2019Assignee: Commvault Systems, Inc.Inventors: Rajiv Kottomtharayil, Rahul S. Patent number: 10474542Abstract: Recovery points can be used for replicating a virtual machine and reverting the virtual machine to a different state. A filter driver can monitor and capture input/output commands between a virtual machine and a virtual machine disk. The captured input/output commands can be used to create a recovery point. The recovery point can be associated with a bitmap that may be used to identify data blocks that have been modified between two versions of the virtual machine. Using this bitmap, a virtual machine may be reverted or restored to a different state by replacing modified data blocks and without replacing the entire virtual machine disk.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2018Date of Patent: November 12, 2019Assignee: Commvault Systems, Inc.Inventors: Amit Mitkar, Andrei Erofeev, Amit Bhaskar Ausarkar, Ajay Venkat Nagrale

Patent number: 10471828Abstract: Exception event recorders and analysis systems include: vehicle mounted sensors arranged as a vehicle event recorder to capture both discrete and non-discrete data; a discretization facility; a database; and an analysis server all coupled together as a computer network. Motor vehicles with video cameras and onboard diagnostic systems capture data when the vehicle is involved in a crash or other anomaly (an ‘event’). In station where interpretation of non-discrete data is rendered, i.e. a discretization facility, captured data is used as a basis for production of supplemental discrete data to further characterize the event. Such interpreted data is joined to captured data and inserted into a database in a structure which is searchable and which supports logical or mathematical analysis by automated machines. A coupled analysis server is arranged to test stored data for prescribed conditions and upon finding such, to initiate further actions appropriate for the detected condition.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2017Date of Patent: November 12, 2019Assignee: SmartDrive Systems, Inc.Inventors: James Plante, Ramesh Kasavaraju, Gregory Mauro, Andrew Nickerson
