  • Patent number: 5223066
Abstract: A method and apparatus for wrapping the liner of a tape, which has been peeled from the backing of a tape, around a pipe or other object in the same operation that the backing is applied. The apparatus includes a frame having at least two spaced apart bars which direct the path of the liner to an offset position which is parallel to and behind the portion of the backing which is currently being applied to the pipe. The liner is then wrapped around the pipe over the backing which has been wrapped around the pipe just in advance of the liner. The liner may also be perforated or otherwise treated before application to the pipe.

  • Patent number: 5205808
Abstract: An interfolded boxed bag arrangement and method and apparatus for making the same from plastic tube or sheeting stock. Plastic tubular or sheeting stock is unwound off two rolls under tension. The stock proceeds to various stations where it is cut into bag lanes by rotary knife blades. A bag lane is cut between each pair of rotary knife blades with a hot knife to form a sealed bottom for the bags. The bag lanes are then cut to a specified length with a hot knife which seals each side of the bag. Bags produced by each roll of stock material are staggered adjacent to one another and are interfolded with each other by a set of rotary gripper fingers and tucker fingers to form an interfolded stack of bags. The stacks are placed into a dispensing box for individual dispensing.

  • Patent number: 5102265
Abstract: An adjustable width split sleeve adapted to be securely wrapped around an elongate member. The sleeve includes a pliable laminated sheet having a first end and a second end. Each end of the sheet is wrapped around a respective first rod. Each first rod is rotated about a second rod which is parallel and adjacent to the first rod but which is separated from the first rod by the sheet. The first and second rods may be positioned various distances from the edges of the sheet as desired to provide a desired width of the sleeve and to provide a tongue to seal the gap between the sheet ends. By positioning the rods in this manner, the rods on each end of the sheet, which are floating and not restrained nor clamped, will lock together from the tension applied to the sheet when the sleeve is secured around the elongate member. Each end of the sheet is securely gripped between the respective first and second rods.

  • Patent number: 5079805
Abstract: A fastener for securing a protective sleeve having a first sleeve end and a second sleeve end around an elongate member. The fastener includes a first clip having a chamber and an entryway adapted to receive and retain the first sleeve end and a second clip including a chamber and an entry way adapted to receive and retain the second sleeve end of the protective sleeve. The first clip includes a cylindrical bore and the second clip includes a threaded cylindrical bore. A bolt extends through the cylindrical bore of the first clip and through the threaded bore of the second clip such that the bolt is threadably fastened to the second clip and the first clip is connected to the second clip. Upon the proper rotation of the bolt, the second clip will be drawn closer to the first clip thereby tightening and securing the protective sleeve around the elongate member.

  • Patent number: 4487318
Abstract: A bag dispensing package includes a stack of flat bags and a surrounding flexible receptacle, conveniently in the form of a plastic bag. Each flat bag within the receptacle includes a pair of opposed walls, one of the walls having a manually graspable flap on an outwardly facing surface and the other wall including an extension that extends outwardly from the remainder of the bag. The flexible receptacle includes an access opening arranged to communicate with the manually graspable flap of the uppermost bag of the stack while the remainder of the receptacle retains the extension of the outermost bag within the receptacle. The access opening is normally closed, being defined by a pattern of perforations so that when it is desired to utilize the bags, the opening is formed by tearing the receptacle along the pattern of perforations. The uppermost bag is then removed by grasping the manually graspable flap and pulling the bag outwardly of the receptacle.
