  • Patent number: 6224130
Abstract: A mechanism for mounting a seat belt of a center seating space of a vehicle seat which exhibits sufficient strength and reduces weight and production costs to the greatest degree is provided. Such a mechanism is provided by separating a seat into a right seating section and a left seating section at the center thereof such that each of the separated seating sections is independently slidable back and forth by means of a seat sliding rail formed of a pair of lower rails fixed to a floor side and a pair of upper rails fixed to the bottom of a seat. A base member bent at an intermediate bent portion defined by a belt mount plate portion and a rail mount connector portion is attached to a side surface of the inner upper rail at the rail connector plate portion such that the belt mount plate portion extends outward. An anchor for the seat belt of the center seating space of the seat is fixed to the top end of the belt mount plate portion of the base member.

  • Patent number: 5810389
Abstract: The invention relates to a side air bag device embedded in a seat side which splits open a stitching part 26 of a seat covering material 20 by means of deployment pressure of an air bag 14 and deploys the air bag 14. In this device, a band 28 for concentrating deployment pressure of the air bag 14 on deployment of the air bag 14 is disposed, and a start to the stitching part 26 splitting open is made by means of this band 28. As a result, the stitching part 26 can be split open rapidly. Also, in the device, a seat pad 72 was interposed between an air bag case 16 and the seat covering material 20. As a result, the softness and feeling of the seat feel is not lost.

  • Patent number: 5624161
Abstract: A seat cushion pad supporting construction has a base frame having an opening, and a planar spring deck disposed substantially over the opening. The planar spring deck is formed of a rectangular boundary frame and flexible support members extending front-to-rear between front and rear boundary frame portions of the boundary frame. The flexible support members may be spring steel wires or flexible planar members made of synthetic resin, rubber or fabric. The spring deck is non-resiliently connected at its front boundary frame portion to a front portion of the base frame adjacent the opening to be vertically pivotable with respect to the front base frame portion. The rear boundary frame portion is resiliently connected by tension springs to a rear portion of the base frame adjacent the opening. Optional front and side protruding spring frames are connected to the boundary frame to support the upper legs of an occupant.

  • Patent number: 5508080
Abstract: A flexible laminated surface material has an outer material and a laminate wadding composed of a fibrous web and a nonwoven fabric sheet that are together needle punched. Parts of filaments of the web penetrate through the nonwoven fabric sheet, thus forming many small protrusions on the nonwoven fabric sheet. The outer material is adhered, using entire area or spot adhesion techniques, to the nonwoven fabric sheet side of the wadding with a substantial adhesion strength. By varying the amount of the adhesion applied, different types of adhesion can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 5080749
Abstract: A process for producing interior vehicular trim, comprising covering the surfaces of a substrate to which a nap-raised ornamental member has been applied, and removing the synthetic resin surface material at the part thereof covering the nap-raised ornamental member along a weld line. The synthetic resin surface material is welded and melt-cut on the peripheral edge of the ornamental member by carrying out the welding while the synthetic resin surface material is lifted up by force from the surface of the nap-raised ornamental member over the part thereof covering the ornamental member. An apparatus for producing interior vehicular trim, comprises an upper platen disposed to oppose matchably to a lower platen for supporting the substrate to which the nap-raised ornamental member has been partly applied, to effect welding of the synthetic resin surface material which was applied over the surface of the substrate, the welding being carried out along the peripheral edge of the ornamental member.

  • Patent number: 4526420
Abstract: A seat cover fixing construction for fixing a bag shaped seat cover to a seat. An engagement portion of the seat extends around the part of the seat near the edge of the seat cover, extends from the seat in the general direction away from the closed end of the bag shape of the seat cover, and is formed with a free edge. A resilient band is shaped as an endless ribbon, and a first edge of this band is coupled to and extends around the edge of the open end of the seat cover. The two edges of the band are of approximately the same length. The band is thinner at its central portion than at its two edges. The resilient band is engaged inside and around the engagement portion of the seat, with the first edge of the band lying generally next to the free edge of the engagement portion of the seat. Thus, the band has been turned inside out to fit under the engagement portion.
