  • Patent number: 9206937
Abstract: A friction pig 2 and system for monitoring one or more physical properties upstream and/or downstream of the friction pig 2 when in use in a pipe 1 is disclosed. The friction pig comprises at least one sensor 7 connected to the friction pig 2 for sensing and acquiring data related to one or more physical properties concerning the friction pig 2 or fluid upstream and/or downstream of the friction pig 2; means for receiving instructions from a remote control unit 12; means for carrying out instructions; and means for transmitting the acquired data to the remote control unit 12, thus enabling monitoring of one or more physical properties. Friction pigs preferably comprise friction plugs, for example high-friction plugs, for use in pipeline isolation. The invention is also described by a system comprising at least two friction pigs 2, 4 for measuring one or more physical properties when used in a pipe.

  • Patent number: 8042574
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement for use with a plug (1) for sealing against an inner wall of a pipeline (30), comprising a main body and sealing means, which sealing means comprises an annular packer element (7), arranged between two relative movable body elements (5,6) of the main body actuated by actuation means, where the movable elements form surfaces (500,600) in abutment against the packer element (7). The packer element (7) comprises a radially inner section (705) which is mainly incompressible in a direction transverse to a circumferential direction and where sections of the two surfaces (500,600) in abutment against the inner section (705) of the packer element (7) in a retracted position, forms different angles in relation to an axis in radial direction in relation to a longitudinal axis of the plug.

  • Patent number: 7909065
Abstract: The present invention regards a barrier plug system (3) for sealing off a pipe (1), comprising a plug body, a first and a second end plate surface (11, 31) arranged on opposite sides of the plug body and at least one circumferential sealing means (6) and means (8) for setting the plug system (3). The plug body comprises at least two separate plug body elements (10, 30) movable relative each other and the at least one sealing means (6) is arranged abutting two opposite annular pressing surfaces (12, 32) formed by the plug body, which are moved towards each other during setting of the plug system (3). The pressing surfaces (12, 32) are limited in the movement against each other by stop means and pre-tensioned to move toward each other by at least one tensioning device (7).

  • Patent number: 7766046
Abstract: A plug for use during a pipeline laying operation for sealing off sections of the pipeline in case of water ingress. A sealing and gripping assembly is formed of slip segments around a partially conical shaped surface, the slip segments being moved by a piston/cylinder arrangement. A valve connected to a pressure vessel actuates the piston/cylinder in response to the detection of conductivity of fluid around the plug.
