Abstract: A method for determining three-dimensional coordinates of an object point on a surface of an object, the method including steps of: providing a source, a projector, and a camera; in each of two instances: spatially modulating source light; sending a modulator pattern of light through the projector lens to form light spots; filtering the spots with a pinhole plate; propagating light from the light spots onto the object to produce a fringe pattern; imaging the object point with a camera lens onto an array point of the photosensitive array to obtain first and second electrical data values from the photosensitive array; and determining the three-dimensional coordinates of the first object point based at least in part on the first electrical data value, the second electrical data value, and a baseline length.

Abstract: A variety of methods and systems are described that relate to reducing optical noise. In at least one embodiment, the method includes, emitting a first light having a selected wavelength from a light source, receiving a reflected first light onto a phosphor-based layer positioned inside a receiver, the reflected first light being at least some of the emitted first light that has been reflected by an object positioned outside of a desired target location. The method further includes, shifting the wavelength of the received reflected first light due to an interaction between the received reflected first light and the phosphor-based layer, and passing the received reflected first light with respect to which the wavelength has been shifted through a light detector without detection.

Abstract: Photocosmetic device for use in medical or non-medical environments (e.g., a home, barbershop, or spa), which can be used for a variety of tissue treatments. Radiation is delivered to the tissue via optical systems designed to pattern the radiation and project the radiation to a particular depth. The device has a variety of cooling systems including phase change cooling solids and liquids to cool treated skin and the radiation sources. Contact sensors and motion sensor may be used to enhance treatment. The device may be modular to facilitate manufacture and replacement of parts.

Abstract: The present invention relates to portable filtration units including filter components mated with retentate and permeate flow channels wherein particle containing solutions are introduced into the portable filtration units and contacted with the filter components for filtration thereby producing a retentate outflow and a permeate outflow for capture of desired end product.

Abstract: A reflective subpixel array may be formed in which an absorption layer is formed on a back substrate, which may obviate the need for a black mask on a front substrate upon which the reflective subpixel array is formed. In some implementations, the black mask layer may be formed only in post areas on the front substrate. The absorption layer may absorb light that enters between subpixel rows and/or columns. The absorption layer may include at least one highly conductive layer that can form part of the signal routing for the display. Conductive spacers may be formed to connect the conductive absorption layer to a conductive layer of the subpixel array.

Abstract: Transdermal drug delivery patches and methods of their production are described. The patches can be made such that the accommodate highly plasticizing drugs such as selegiline and/or the use of protonated forms of various drugs.

Abstract: A tie clip includes a strap body formed of a first material. The strap body has a first and second end, a strap retention member, a plurality of teeth disposed on the strap body, and a securing member. The strap body also includes sealing member that is formed of a second material that is different from the first material. The second material is directly chemically bonded to the first material. The first end of the strap body is received in a unidirectional manner in the strap retention member so as to form a loop that fixedly holds at least one object such that the object is prevented from having lateral movement through the loop. When the securing member is fastenably secured within a hole of a mounting structure, the sealing member sealingly engages against the mounting structure surrounding the hole to prevent environmental element intrusion therethough.

Abstract: The present invention, in a non-limiting example embodiment provides a locking apparatus and method for securing locking hardware without the use of a key. In an example embodiment, the apparatus comprises at least a keyless insertion rotatable disk-style, barrel locking apparatus that, in a locked state can be inserted into a securing device without first unlocking, and then, thereafter, locking after insertion. In a nonlimiting example embodiment, unlocking and re-locking requires a key. The present invention, in an example embodiment, also provides features that allow the locking apparatus to enter and exit multiple apertures without requiring a key.

Abstract: A fluid supply system configured for metering two or more fluids in controlled proportions, including a plurality of solvent supply lines, a pumping unit configured for taking in fluids from selected solvent supply lines and for supplying a pressurized mixture, a proportioning valve configured for modulating solvent composition by sequentially coupling selected ones of the solvent supply lines with the inlet of the pumping unit, a sensor configured for sensing process information in the fluid supply system, an analysis entity configured for analyzing the process information for determining reciprocating element related information at a beginning of fluid intake, and a control unit configured for switching the proportioning valve to sequentially couple selected ones of the solvent supply lines to the inlet of the pumping unit at one or more switching points based on the given metering scheme and based on the reciprocating element related information.

The network communication agent has network packet filtering and transferring functions so that a virtual private network is established between the network communication agent and the diskless PCs for enabling each diskless PC to use a preboot execution environment communication protocol to catch dynamic host configuration protocol information, to start up network bootstrap, and to request the host for the services of remote installation, boot and access to virtual disk.

The shell comprises a dome and a side wall, and the shell contains the control circuit module. The energy conversion component comprises a substrate, a substrate holder, and at least a LED, wherein the LED is disposed on the substrate, the substrate is connected to the substrate holder, and the substrate holder is coupled to the control circuit module to drive the energy conversion component. The heat pipe comprises a flat part, an extension part, and a contact part, wherein the substrate and the substrate holder of the energy conversion component are disposed on the flat part; the extension part, disposed inside the shell, extends toward a direction. The pixels in the array may include a single or multiple photogates surrounding the nanowire. The photogates control the potential profile in the nanowire, allowing accumulation of photo-generated charges in the nanowire and transfer of the charges for signal readout. Each pixel may include a readout circuit which may include a reset transistor, charge transfer switch transistor, source follower amplifier, and pixel select transistor. A nanowire is generally structured as a vertical rod on the bulk semiconductor substrate to receive light energy impinging onto the tip of the nanowire. The nanowire may be configured to function as either a photodetector or a waveguide configured to guild the light to the substrate. Light of different wavelengths can be detected using the imaging device.

Abstract: A vertical stacked light emitting structure includes a substrate unit, a first light emitting unit, a light guiding unit, and a second light emitting unit. The substrate unit includes at least one substrate body. The first light emitting unit includes at least one first LED bare chip disposed on the substrate body and electrically connected to the substrate body. The light guiding unit includes at least one light guiding body disposed on the first LED bare chip. The second light emitting unit includes at least one second LED bare chip disposed on the light guiding body and electrically connected to the substrate body. Therefore, the first LED bare chip, the light guiding body, and the second LED bare chip are stacked on top of one another sequentially.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for wireless takeover of wired alarm system components. Embodiments of the invention can be used to bridge hardwired alarm zones for use with a wireless alarm controller. Wired sensors are wired to a takeover module that converts communication from the wired sensors into wireless communication that can be compatibly processed at an alarm controller that accepts wireless signals. Power and ground connections from an existing wired alarm controller can be used with the takeover module to facilitate wireless takeover of wired alarm sensors.

Abstract: Embodiments include methods and devices for controlling the spectral profile and color gamut of light produced by an interferometric display. Such devices include illuminating a display with selected wavelengths of light. Embodiments also include a display comprising separate sections that output different predetermined colors of light. Other embodiments include methods of making the aforementioned devices.

Abstract: A system and method for determining an efficient assignment of information categories to multicast addresses is described. In one embodiment, the assignment takes into account the overlapping information needs of the subscriber nodes and the network bandwidth that will be consumed in the dissemination of each information category based on its size and the frequency of dissemination. In another embodiment, the assignment takes into consideration the additional constraint of a quality of service network having different prioritizations associated with the information categories.

Abstract: This invention pertains to method for imparting a durable antimicrobial activity to substrates, particularly textiles. An acetate-free metal and peroxide antimicrobial treatment formulation is prepared by adjusting the pH of a mixture of a metal salt in aqueous hydrogen peroxide to about 7.5. The substrate is treated with the composition and dried to afford the treated substrate with antimicrobial activity. Zinc salts, ions, or complexes are preferred.
