  • Patent number: 4427998
Abstract: A facsimile document scanner 10 is illustrated which includes an optical system 23 having a folded optical path 40 and an adjustable focusing lens 42. A test pattern 60 in the form of a plurality of alternate light and dark stripes 64, 66 is printed upon a strip 62 secured to the inner wall of the cabinet 12. When the scanner is at rest, the test pattern 60 is focused upon a linear photodiode array 50 mounted in an integrated circuit pack 51. The number of light and dark stripes 64, 66 is equal to the number of photodiodes in the linear photodiode array 50 across the document width. For adjustment purposes, an oscilloscope 70 is connected to a serial output from the integrated circuit pack 50 and the optical system 23 is adjusted to obtain a uniform signal display 80.

  • Patent number: 4419707
Abstract: A flexible band positioning device arranged to convert rotaty motion of an outout drum of a stepper motor to linear motion of a carriage supporting a read/write head. A flexible band is attached to the drum and is at least partially wrapped around it. The end portions of the band are each guided around a different idler roller and are attached to a support frame. The idler rollers are rotatably mounted on the carriage and upon wrapping and unwrapping of the band around the drum, caused by rotary movement of the drum, move the carriage linearly.

  • Patent number: 4418976
Abstract: A connector clip 12 is shown having a "U" shaped body member 30 including a base 34 and two parallel, extending legs 32. The ends of each of the legs 32 define camming surfaces 42 and a socket retaining notch 44. The clip includes a pair of first spacing feet 47 positioned medially upon each leg 32 and a pair of second spacing feet 36 located at the ends of a base member 34. The feet 36, 47 serve to limit relative movement between the clip 12 and a plug 14 which holds the clip 12 to a circuit board 22. A pair of spaced fingers 48 together with the circuit board 22 and the facing surfaces of the legs 32 define an access opening which serves to align the socket 24 with a plug 14. The second embodiment of FIGS. 5 and 6 includes a pair of arms 50 which engage the circuit board 22 surface opposite the surface upon which the plug 14 is mounted. The arms 50 prevent relative movement between the clip 12 and the circuit board 22.

  • Patent number: 4414538
Abstract: Twenty-five capacitive keyswitches 16a-e are arranged in a matrix having five row conductors 12a-e and five column conductors 14a-e. A series of five pulses are fed to each row conductor 14a-e in succession through AND gates 41a-e controlled by a counter 34. Each time a row conductor 12a-e is pulsed, all of the column conductors 14a-e are scanned. When one of the column conductors 14a-e is scanned, the associated coupling transistor 54a-e is turned on and the associated discharge transistor 50a-e is turned off. The remaining coupling transistor 54a-e of the remaining columns 14a-e are off and the remaining discharge transistors 50a-e are on.

  • Patent number: 4359179
Abstract: The drive shaft 30 of a printer 10 engages a tractor 16 which, in turn, moves a paper web 12 across a print mechanism 14. Located on the drive shaft 30 is a drive shaft advance cam 78 which is fixed to drive the shaft 30 and rotate therewith. Additionally, located upon the drive shaft 30 for limited rotational movement with respect to the drive shaft advance cam 78 is a paper advance cam 90. • Patent number: 4358690
Abstract: A digital voltage comparator is illustrated including a cross-coupled latch 10 having input nodes 12 and 14. After the input nodes 12 and 14 of the latch 10 have been respectively preloaded to the input A and reference E voltage levels during the active state of clock phase .phi..sub.1, the latch is allowed to arrive at a stable state during the active state of clock phase .phi..sub.2. • Patent number: 4317276
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a device in a wafer with a P-type semiconductor, includes forming on a surface of the semiconductor body a layer of silicon dioxide doped with an N-type dopant. The portion of the doped silicon dioxide covering the interconnect work site area is removed and a masking layer of an oxidation impervious medium is formed over the wafer and thereafter removed from the field areas, as is the doped silicon dioxide layer. A thin layer of gate oxide is formed over the field areas. A layer of conductive polysilicon is formed over the entire wafer followed by a layer of oxygen impervious masking medium. The conductive polysilicon and masking medium layers are removed from all areas of the wafer except those whereat transistors are to be formed. The wafer is exposed to an oxidizing environment under an elevated temperature producing a field oxide over the exposed gate oxide.
