Abstract: A flight deck display that represents the overall health of the airplane by combining energy state, system state and configuration state into one integrated representation that is triggered by the on-board engine indication and crew alerting system. The computer system for controlling the display unit is configured to display an airplane status indicator in the form of a symbolic representation of the airplane that persists across displays. The status indicator shows the energy state of the airplane and how energy is being added or subtracted from it in terms of altitude, airspeed, thrust, wind, etc. As the airplane gains energy, there is a projection of excess energy shown in front of the airplane. As the airplane loses energy, an alerting indicator will appear around the airplane symbol if the performance of the airplane becomes is too low.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of making a structure by ultrasonic welding and superplastic forming. The method comprises assembling a plurality of workpieces comprising a first workpiece including a first material having superplastic characteristics; ultrasonically welding the first workpiece to a second workpiece, to form an assembly; heating the assembly to a temperature at which the first material having superplastic characteristics is capable of superplastic deformation, and injecting a fluid between the first workpiece and the second workpiece to form a cavity between the first workpiece and the second workpiece.

Abstract: There is provided an air duct assembly. The air duct assembly has a deformable duct preform having securing portions formed along opposing longitudinal edges. Each securing portion has a flange portion and a radius portion. The air duct assembly further has a panel structure having a pair of longitudinal base members mounted thereon in an opposed, spaced, predetermined relationship. Each longitudinal base member has a retaining element along a longitudinal edge of the longitudinal base member. Each retaining element is pre-configured to engage the flange portion and the radius portion of each securing portion to attach the deformable duct preform to the longitudinal base members and to form an air-leak resistant seal. The deformable duct preform is adaptable in a cross-sectional profile in relation to variations in attachment of the deformable duct preform to the longitudinal base members.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus for removing scrap from tape material on original backing paper includes a supply reel, at least one cutting member, at least one heating member and/or cooling member, and at least one removal member. The supply reel is for supplying and unrolling tape material on original backing paper. The at least one cutting member is for cutting unrolled tape material while on original backing paper. The at least one of a heating member and a cooling member are for at least one of heating and cooling cut unrolled tape material on original backing paper. The at least one removal member is for removing scrap cut unrolled tape material from original backing paper.
