  • Patent number: 4389469
Abstract: A power pack (1) for use as an alternative to non-rechargeable batteries (3) in a toy (2) comprises a plurality of series connected rechargeable cells (13) accommodated within a casing (7) which is sealed permanently against removal of the cells and carries output terminals (11A-11C) arranged to cooperate with the power input terminals (6A-6D) of the toy when the power pack is inserted in place of the cells and with the contact terminals (25) of a recharging device (18) when the power pack is engaged with this device for recharging the cells. The power pack casing is shaped to cooperate with the toy (2) and recharging device so that it will engage with each in only one predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 4261466
Abstract: An assembly of an article, for example a toy vehicle, retained on a sheet comprises a holding device securing the article on an upper surface of the sheet and having depending legs which extend through corresponding apertures in the sheet and in a body portion of a retaining device the body portion being located on the lower side of the sheet. The legs have respective transverse projections which project over and lie adjacent the lower surface of the body portion to hold the article on the sheet. The apertures of the body portion include opposed aperture portions through which the projections can pass during assembly and circumferentially extending aperture portions along which the legs can ride, upon rotation of said retaining device, to bring the legs out of alignment with said opposed aperture portions and into positions adjacent the lower surface of the body portion.

  • Patent number: 4251480
Abstract: A mould for producing a decorated article has a base part with a mould cavity and a lid part co-operating with but being movable away from the base part, the surface of the lid part facing the base part being substantially planar or part-cylindrical and extending beyond the wall of the base part. The wall of the base part preferably has a knife edge for engagement with the lid part. The method of producing the article comprises the steps of locating in a predetermined position on the lid part a carrier having ink thereon, charging the base part with plastics material, locating the lid part in a predetermined position on the base part so that the carrier extends beyond the co-operating wall of the base part, and rotationally moulding the article.

  • Patent number: 4185739
Abstract: An assembly of an article, for example a toy vehicle, retained on a sheet in which the article is located on one side of the sheet and is held by a retainer which comprises a body portion on the opposite side of the sheet to the article and projections which extend from the body portion and engage in recesses in the article, for example in the wheels of a toy vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4179690
Abstract: In a circuit for producing an audible signal, a sounder is connected to an audio frequency signal generator circuit for producing the audible signal. A modulator circuit is connected to the signal generator circuit for controlling it to alter the frequency of the operation thereof. The signal generator circuit and the modulator circuit each comprise two inverters connected in series with a resistor connected in parallel with one of the two inverters. A capacitor is connected in parallel with the series combination of the two inverters and all of the inverters are formed on a single integrated circuit package.

  • Patent number: 4169594
Abstract: A laminated material suitable for use in inflatable playballs comprises a first layer of thermoplastic synthetic resin and a second layer. The second layer is formed of two thermoplastic resin materials, one having a tensile strength greater than the material of the first layer and forming a lattice structure and the other filling the interstices of the lattice structure, the filling material being exposed at one surface of the second layer and bonded at that surface to the first layer.

  • Patent number: 4136481
Abstract: A poseable figure simulating a human-being comprises a body whose lower end is open to receive a leg assembly articulated for movement relative to the body fore and aft, side-to-side and also about the axis of a longitudinal stem which carries the head and makes snap fitting engagement with the leg assembly. A resilient bias acts between the body and leg assembly both to take up clearances and to provide a degree of frictional restraint to hold the parts in desired relative positions.

  • Patent number: 4133500
Abstract: A toy kite has the general form of a hang glider and has a tow line which is releasable from the kite when in flight by slackening the tension in the tow line. Spars of the kite frame are hinged together by unitary plastic hinges and the frame can be folded and erected by moving a slider along a main spar. A pilot figure suspended in a harness below the kite is adjustable to alter the trim.

  • Patent number: 4042242
Abstract: In a toy target, target figures are rotated about a horizontal axis at a controlled speed by a gravitationally driven escapement mechanism. The figures are carried by wire elements for pivotal movement between "upright" and "knocked down" positions, and devices which attach the figures to the elements are arranged to return the figures automatically to their upright positions after they have been knocked down.

  • Patent number: 3974469
Abstract: A magnetic switch assembly including a reed switch is biased by moving the magnetic axis of a permanent magnet with respect to the axis of the reed switch. In one embodiment, the magnet is a disc magnet which is provided with diametrically opposite poles the magnetic axis of the magnet being rotated in a plane spaced from the reed switch. In a further embodiment the magnet is a bar magnet disposed with its magnetic axis parallel to and aligned with the axis of the reed switch. A screw-threaded member received in a bore in the magnet is rotated to move the magnet towards and away from the reed switch to vary the magnetic biasing conditions, guide means are disclosed abutting the magnet so as to maintain the disposition of the magnet with respect to the reed switch during movement of the magnet.
