    Abstract: A flange for a pressure vessel includes a rim, a sealing seat, and an undercut fillet. The rim has an annular surface for abutting an annular end of a cylindrical wall of the pressure vessel. The sealing seat has a cylindrical surface for abutting an inner surface of the cylindrical wall of the pressure vessel nearby the annular end. The undercut fillet is disposed between the rim and the sealing seat. A concave surface of the undercut fillet extends the annular surface of the rim radially inward and then curves back outward to intersect the cylindrical surface of the sealing seat. The undercut fillet of the flange helps distribute stress produced from a pressure differential between the inside and outside of the pressure vessel.

    Abstract: Provided is a maritime overboard locator system for use in locating and rescuing a person or asset that has fallen overboard into a body of water. The system includes a locator attached to a person or asset that is activated manually or automatically upon immersion in water. The apparatus emits light, sound, radio, or any combination thereof. The locator is detected by one or more detectors onboard a boat, ship, vessel, or structure. The detectors detect a unique signal that is assigned to each person/asset. Once detected, the detector sends an overboard alert and deploys an unmanned aerial or underwater drone. The drone can include an inflatable life preserver or life raft and a tether cord that helps the person to remain afloat until rescue can be accomplished.

The substrate is a low dielectric loss insulating material to provide support for the antenna. The spiral antenna is tuned to a natural frequency is disposed on the substrate.     Abstract: A nonlinear frequency modulated gyroscope includes a degenerate-mode mechanical resonator, positive feedback circuits, a temperature control component, and a gyroscope controller. The degenerate-mode mechanical resonator with two or more modes are coupled via a Coriolis effect. The positive feedback circuits for each mode of the degenerate-mode mechanical resonator include an analog or digital automatic gain control that maintains oscillations of each mode at a constant amplitude. The temperature control component includes a sensor and heating elements. The gyroscope controller is an application-specific integrated circuit, a field programmable gate array, or microcontroller. The degenerate-mode mechanical resonator, the positive feedback circuits, and the temperature control component are subsystems of the nonlinear frequency modulated gyroscope.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus uses a VLF transmitter, a VLF receiver, and/or a low earth orbit satellite including a rocket engine. A VLF wave transmitted into space is converted to an ambient wave. The ambient wave acts as a signal wave for a whistler traveling wave parametric amplifier. Rocket exhaust is generated in atmospheric plasma. The rocket exhaust includes kinetic energy acting as a Lower Hybrid wave source. The Lower Hybrid wave source produces a Lower Hybrid wave, which acts as a pump wave for the parametric amplifier. Nonlinear mixing of the signal wave and the pump wave in the atmospheric plasma simultaneously parametrically amplifies the ambient wave and generates an idler wave and a parametrically amplified wave. The parametrically amplified wave (1) reduces the density of energetic protons or killer electrons in the Van Allen radiation belt, and (2) improves communications between the VLF transmitter and VLF receiver.
