  • Patent number: 6225565
Abstract: A flexible cable which includes a Faraday shield sheath formed of a high permeability ferrous alloy filled matrix binder of conductive elastomer, which provides electromagnetic interference (EMI) isolation between the ambient environment about the cable and a conductor line or lines within the cable, or vice versa. The flexible cable shield may be embodied as a flexible electrical cable including at least the elements of a single electrically conductive core, an insulator sheath, and a Faraday shield sheath, and which may be manufactured as a single extruded cable. The conductive property of the matrix binder provides isotropic conductivity within the sheath, which is requisite of an effective Faraday shield.

  • Patent number: 5604292
Abstract: Novel conjugated amino substituted phenylene polymers are disclosed having on-linear optical properties, and which can be converted to electrically conductive polymers. Such polymers are produced by reacting a novel bis-cycloalkylene sulfonium salt of 2,5,N,N-tetramethylaniline hydrochloride, such as 2,5-(N,N-dimethyl)aniline hydrochloride dimethylene bis-(tetramethylene sulfonium chloride) with alkali metal hydroxide to form a cycloalkylene sulfonium salt precursor polymer, and then heating the precursor polymer under conditions to produce the amino substituted phenylene vinylene polymer, such as poly(2-(N,N-dimethylamino) phenylene vinylene). The polymers can also be made directly by treatment of the bis chlormethyl dimethyl aniline hydrochloride derivative with alkali metal alkoxide.

  • Patent number: 5377613
Abstract: A submersible boat is provided which utilizes a planing boat hull with a sharp bow and blunt stern. The submersible boat performs as a planing boat until it nears the target location. Then, the boat submerges in order to avoid detection. After this vessel submerges, it travels with the blunt end forward and the sharp end aft.
