Patents Assigned to Tokai Kogyo Company
  • Patent number: 8123995
Abstract: A molded product includes an already-formed member and an injection molded portion. The already-formed member, which has a joining surface, is placed in an injection molding mold, and the joining surface and the injection molding mold define a molding cavity. The injection molding mold further defines a spill cavity that is in communication with the molding cavity. Liquid molding material is injected into the molding cavity. At least some of initial molding material which has initially reached the joining surface flows into the spill cavity due to injection pressure of subsequent molding material injected after injection of the initial molding material, and is replaced with the subsequent molding material, which has a temperature higher than that of the initial molding material and a viscosity lower than that of the initial molding material.

  • Patent number: 7979972
Abstract: A method for assembling a molding, including pre-assembling a molding by placing one of two inwardly bent longitudinal edges of a cover in a groove in a flexible main body, the groove receiving one of the two edges; placing the molding in a fixture so that the cover cannot be substantially flexed when a pushing force is applied to the molding; applying a pushing force to the main body of the molding, causing the main body to flex or compress under the pushing force; sliding the main body past the other of the two edges of the cover; seating the other of the two edges of the cover in another groove by releasing the pushing force allowing the main body to return toward an unflexed and uncompressed state inside the channel of the cover so the two parts form an assembled molding; and removing the assembled molding from the fixture.

  • Publication number: 20090166366
Abstract: A main body of an opening and closing member is arranged so as to cover a handling hole from one side of a wall, such as a container wall. The opening and closing member is mounted to the container by engaging an engagement portion with a flange formed at the periphery of the handling hole. When a user inserts a hand into the handling hole and pushes the main body, the main body moves away from the wall, and the handling hole is uncovered. By so doing, the user can insert his or her hand into the handling hole and carry the container or other object. Then, when the user removes his or her hand from the handling hole, the main body moves toward the wall, and an outer periphery of the main body contacts the wall at the periphery of the handling hole and returns to the original position. Thus, the handling hole is covered from one side of the wall. By so doing, dirt, water and/or the like can be suppressed from passing through the handling hole.

  • Publication number: 20090169821
Abstract: A molded product includes a matrix formed of a polymer material and a plurality of capsules dispersed in the matrix. An unevenness is formed on a surface due to expansion of the capsules. Some of the capsules have expanded without bursting and include an exposed outer shell portion that protrudes from a surface, and/or some of the capsules have burst and include an outer shell protruding portion that protrudes outward from the surface. Finish processing is performed, which eliminates the outer shell protruding portions and/or the exposed outer shell portions from the surface. This results in a molded product in which a color difference due to frequency of contacting an object, etc.

  • Publication number: 20090113691
Abstract: A molding, such as a belt-line window molding for a motor vehicle, is produced by assembling or mating a cover part to at least a flexible portion of a functional main body part. A flexible portion of the functional main body part of the molding is compressed and forced into a substantially C-shaped decorative or ornamental cover part, such as a substantially non-flexible metal cover part of a belt-line window molding for a motor vehicle, the flexible and elastic properties of the flexible main body part facilitating an assembly process. An apparatus is provided to retain the cover part during an assembly process ensuring that the cover part is not bent or otherwise excessively deformed during the assembly process, and provides a pushing force to compress or otherwise manipulate the flexible main body part as required to effect assembly of the two-piece belt-line window molding for a motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7255354
Abstract: A gas-permeable plug is adapted to be inserted in an insertion hole formed through a part of a casing in an inward-outward direction. The gas-permeable plug has a plug body and a permeable sheet including therein countless minute permeable pores. The plug body is injection molded from a material having rubber-like elasticity and the permeable sheet is integrally bonded to a sheet bonding portion by an anchor operation such that when the plug body is injection molded, at the sheet bonding portion, a part of a heat-melted liquid resin enters the minute permeable pores and/or the permeable gaps in irregular directions by the injection molding pressure and is solidified.

  • Patent number: 7083660
Abstract: A connector casing E required to have a sealing property includes a cover 2. The cover 2 has a cover main body 10 provided with a large vent hole H0 passing through the connector casing E in an inward and outward direction and having a predetermined inner diameter size. A permeable sheet S, which permits permeation of a gas and prevents permeation of a liquid and a solid, is integrally joined to an outside peripheral part of the large vent hole H0 so as to cover the large vent hole H0 from its outside. A cover insert member C is disposed outside the permeable sheet S to cover the permeable sheet from the outside, and a ring-shaped protrusion 22 is hermetically joined to the casing main body 10. The cover insert member C1 is provided with a small vent hole H1 which has an inner diameter smaller than the large vent hole H0 and communicates with the large vent hole H0 through the permeable sheet S.
