  • Patent number: 4693694
Abstract: A toy, as for instance a simulated toy computer, has a housing with a window formed in the housing. Behind the window is an indicia strip or carrier which has indicia located on its surface. Positioned in front of the indicia strip is a lenticular screen. The lenticular screen is connected to a mechanism which mechanically moves the lenticular screen with respect to the indicia. Movement of the lenticular screen in front of the indicia gives the appearance that the indicia, in fact, is moving. Actuator keys are provided on the housing for advancing the indicia strip and for activating the movement of the lenticular screen.

  • Patent number: 4680022
Abstract: A toy is constructed to include two unique linkages with the first linkage including a series of links located in a sequential array with each link pivotally connected to its next immediate adjacent neighbor and every other link operatively connected such that each link can pivot with respect to its neighbor and motion of a link pivotally connected to one side of a link is communicated to the link pivotally connected to the other side of that same link. This allows the linkage to propagate motion along the totality of the sequence in response to movement of any one link. The second linkage includes a first member which is pivotally connected to a rotating crank pin and connected at its upper end to a second lever which is pivotally connected to a body on which the crank pin rotates.

  • Patent number: 4654659
Abstract: A remote control toy includes a remote housing and a main housing. The remote housing has a transmitter and a signal generator associated with the transmitter. A plurality of function switches govern the signal generator. The transmitter outputs a signal which is encoded by the signal generator to reflect which switch or switches is activated on the remote housing. The main module includes a receiver to receive the signal from the transmitter. The receiver removes the encoded signal and outputs it to a decoder. Depending upon the signal received, the decoder outputs to one or more of its output ports which are connected to appropriate output devices located on the main module. One of these includes a tape drive which carries a tape therein, and which is capable of recording a sequence of control functions transmitted by the remote module to the main module.

  • Patent number: 4650438
Abstract: A toy has a housing with a surface therein. Located underneath the surface is a pivot member which carries a carriage member thereon. The pivot member rotates about an axis of rotation, and the carriage member slides on the pivot member so as to move radially inwardly and outwardly from the axis of rotation. The carriage member carries a first magnet. An object carrying a second magnet is located on the top of the surface. Movement of the first magnet underneath the surface is communicated to the object on top of the surface via magnetic coupling between the two magnets. The combination of the rotational movement of the pivot member and the linear radial movement of the carriage member, results in complex movement of the object on the surface of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4631040
Abstract: A toy construction set has a variety of component parts including bases, houses, and auxiliary members. Male and female connecting elements attached to the respective components allow for assembly of the components in a variety of configurations. To connect the components, one or more of a first male connector which is formed as a truncated cone and a first female connector which is formed as a corresponding truncated boss, are frictionally fit to one another. The first male and female connectors are appropriately formed on the bases, housings, and auxiliary members. Further, a second connecting system utilizing a second female connector formed as a cylindrical opening and an elongated cylindrical element can be utilized to connect other of these components together. Utilizing the components of the invention, a variety of spacial configurations can be made, such as forming vehicle like trucks, helicopters, and construction equipment such as backhoes, forklifts, bulldozers, and the like.

  • Patent number: 4623320
Abstract: A moveable toy which includes a motor for producing motion. Associated with the motor is a motor controller for accelerating and deaccelerating the motor. A rotary element is driven by the motor. Associated with the rotary element is a flywheel which is capable of being rotated by the rotary element, but is also capable of independent rotation. The flywheel is further associated with a switch which governs the output of the motor to several moving elements located on the toy. The flywheel interacts with the switch to shift the output to the individual moving elements each time the speed of the flywheel differs from that of the rotating element. The motor controller deaccelerates the motor which in turn deaccelerates the rotating element upon command of the operator of the toy.

  • Patent number: 4619625
Abstract: A construction toy has a first module which includes a bellows and a bulb with a tube connecting the two. The bellows includes a connector on each of its ends. Second modules each having connectors which mate with the connectors on the bellows, attached to the respective ends of the bellows. Third modules, each having an axle having wheels located thereon, are connected to the second modules utilizing mating connectors. The wheels on the third module include a ratchet mechanism allowing for rotation in only one direction. Upon each compression of the bulb, fluid pressure is transmitted to the bellows to elongate it, and in so doing, one of the third modules is moved away from the other; and upon release of the bulb, the bellows shortens bringing the other of the third modules back toward the first.

  • Patent number: 4618330
Abstract: An amusement toy includes a first member which is cylindrical in shape and is located within a housing. This first member is capable of rotating on the housing. A second elongated member is located within the center of the cylindrical shaped first member and moves up and down within the first member. A first gear located on the first member engages a connecting gear which in turn engages a gear located on the second member so as to transfer linear motion of the second member into rotational motion of the first member. Rotation of the first member transferred to at least one output member whereby the output member is rotated ultimately in response to linear motion of the second member.
