Abstract: A lock cylinder with dual driver whereby an independent drive for the dead bolt mechanism and the door latch mechanism may be achieved with a single lock so as to provide withdrawal of both the latch bolt and the dead bolt by rotation of the key inserted into the lock cylinder. The drive for the dead bolt actuating mechanism is a conventional lost motion drive extending from the rear of the cylinder assembly. In addition, a cam is coupled to the cylinder assembly threaded cap so as to provide a direct drive thereto, with a cam being coupled to the latch mechanism so that both the dead bolt and the latch bolt are retracted upon rotation of a key in the lock.
Abstract: A lock mechanism with disengageable knob whereby the locking of the mechanism decouples the exterior knob from the latch mechanism to allow the free rotation thereof without damage or detriment to the mechanism. The exterior knob is coupled to a cam member which actuates a spring loaded slide plate, which in turn may pick up a lock mechanism actuating member dependent upon whether the interior lock actuator is in the locked or unlocked position.
Abstract: A reusable cylindrically shaped, pivotally collapsible, foam mandrel used for the manufacture of hollow resin impregnated fiber tubes. The mandrel includes a substantially rigid foam cylindrical member, an extractable bar, and a means on the outer surface of the foam member for aiding in collapsing the cylindrical member, such as a groove. In one embodiment a hinge member is employed to further aid in the pivotal collapsibility of the foam cylindrical member.
Abstract: Display hardware for lock sets which is adapted to display a variety of lock sets enabling a viewer to visually and manually demonstrate the various features and components of each lock set is disclosed. The hardware comprises a lock assembly fixedly secured in a mounting block with generally flat sides and apertures receiving the lock assembly, the lock assembly being disposed through the apertures in flat sides of the block to display the lock assembly in a mounted condition. The block for displaying the lock assembly is coupled to and extends outwardly from a suitable shelf. The shelf has at least one generally elongated horizontal member which is arranged and configured so as to be adapted to receive, store and display packaged lock sets corresponding to the lock sets displayed on the mounting block coupled to the shelf.
Abstract: The present invention is a method for constructing a solid state diffusion bonded connection which is homogeneous, capable of efficiently transmitting stress and capable of being analyzed. The method provides for the achievement of homogeneous filleted junctures which are required by long-life structural fatigue specifications. The method also provides a mechanical interlock feature which produces a fail-safe connection. By the invented method, only the amount of material required to form the desired structural connection is used. The members to be joined are cut from sheets or plates of a wrought alloy such that a predetermined amount of metal is available to produce the diffusion bond and specified filleting. Minimum force is required to produce the connection since only localized plastic flow diffusion bonding is required in the vicinity of the juncture of the members. The formed connection is homogeneous and has the same properties across the connection as the parent material.
Abstract: The present invention is a lightweight, internally stiffened aerodynamic shell structure with local fittings and a method for fabricating the same. Two typical type structures are the blades and vanes of a turbo fan engine. The invented structure exhibits heretofore unattainable strength and stiffness to weight ratios and a high degree of structural integrity. It is, therefore, particularly advantageous in applications such as the rotating blades in airborne or ground power conversion equipment. It is an aerodynamically shaped structure comprising metallic stiffening material interposed between, and joined to, a pair of relatively thin corresponding metallic face sheets which form the shell skin of the structure. As a function of design requirements, a root fitting, shroud fitting, and tip rib or fitting are solid-state diffusion bonded to the shell structure.
Abstract: A handle set door lock comprised of an outer assembly with a handle, a thumb piece actuator, a key operated cylinder, a latch bolt and operating mechanism, and a selective control member is disclosed. When the selective control member is in a first position, depression of the thumb piece actuator engages the operating mechanism causing the retraction of the latch bolt. When the selective control member is in a second position, the thumb piece actuator is disengaged from the operating mechanism permitting depression of the thumb piece actuator but without causing retraction of the latch bolt. The latch bolt can always be retracted by the conventional key operated cylinder located on the outer assembly when the selective control member located on the inner knob is in either the first or second position.
Abstract: A method of stretch wrapping metallic panels, particularly honeycomb structure sandwich panels, in which the panel is heated by passing an electrical current through it during the forming step. A pair of electrode tabs are joined to opposing edges of the panel and are gripped in gripper jaws which are slidable between tapered blocks so that as more tension is created in the panel, the jaws tighten. The electrical connections are made to the tapered blocks and current flows to the panel across the sliding joint and through the jaws.
