Abstract: An AC active load device for use with a generator and a controller to supply a variable impedance when supplied with an AC waveform. The AC active load device uses a transformer and one or more transistors to generate an average max load impedance greater than 1000 ohms over varying voltage levels. The transistor functions as a dynamically-controlled resistor to the generator when the generator supplies the AC voltage to the transformer. The transistors may be GaN FETs or LDMOSFETs. The transformer steps down a voltage supplied by a generator to a voltage below the threshold voltage of the transistors. A control voltage is supplied to the gate of the transistors and may be controlled by a controller. A voltage and current are outputted to the controller from the AC active load device. The AC active load device may be used to calibrate the generator.

Abstract: A surgical instrument includes a handle movable between first and second positions for transitioning an end effector assembly between states and to a third position for returning the handle. A latch arm coupled to the handle includes one or more engagement members. A latch block defines a guide track having a latching path configured to guide the engagement member(s) therealong, an engagement portion configured to engage the engagement member(s) to latch the handle in the second position, and a return path configured to guide the engagement member(s) therealong. A first step interdisposed between the latching path and engagement portion guides the engagement member(s) into engagement with the engagement portion and inhibits the engagement member(s) from returning along the latching path. A second step interdisposed between the engagement portion and the return path guides the engagement member(s) along the return path and inhibits the engagement member(s) from re-engaging the engagement portion.

  • Publication number: 20130304114
Abstract: A forceps includes first and second jaw members and at least one handle movable between an open position and a closed position for moving the jaw members between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position. A ratchet mechanism includes first and second ratchet components configured to engage one another upon movement of the at least one handle to the closed position to retain the jaw members in the approximated position. A knife is selectively movable between a retracted position and an extended position, wherein the knife extends between the jaw members to cut tissue therebetween. A safety mechanism is configured to inhibit extension of the knife when the jaw members are disposed in the spaced-apart position. Movement of the ratchet components into engagement with one another to retain the jaw members in the approximated position disengages the safety mechanism, thereby permitting extension of the knife.

Abstract: Described herein are flexible implantable devices or stents that can, for example, navigate the tortuous vessels of the neurovasculature. The devices can also conform to the shape of tortuous vessels of the vasculature. In some embodiments, the devices can direct blood flow within a vessel away from an aneurysm or limit blood flow to the aneurysm. Methods and structures are provided for adjusting, along a length of the device, the porosity of the device while maintaining a cross-sectional dimension. In some embodiments, small hooks releasably engage the stent at a proximal end and are able to resheath the stent by retracting a proximal retaining member where the hooks are coupled to. The hooks straighten, unfurl, or otherwise disengage the stent when either unrestrained by a catheter or when coming into contact with an external stimulus found in the patient's vasculature.
