  • Publication number: 20150240173
Abstract: The invention relates to the preparation of carboxylic acid esters compounds, biodiesel (B) from microalgae, for use as a biofuel for compression type ignition. The objective is achieved through a hydroesterification process of a microalgae biomass (MU) comprising a hydrolysis stage and the esterification stage by means of heterogeneous catalysis. The wet microalgae biomass (MU) is the result of a process of cultivation concentration and is hydrolyzed directly in a hydrolysis column (20). Fatty acids (C), water (A) and raw glycerin (G) are obtained following the hydrolysis. The fatty acids (C) are esterified by reactive distillation in the presence of an impregnated heterogeneous catalyst (I).

  • Publication number: 20130340113
Abstract: The proposed innovation relates to the biotechnological improvement of plant species of commercial interest. More specifically, the present invention relates to the production of transgenic plants biotechnological with greater tolerance to water deficit and salt stress by means of the expression of a new gene of coffee (of the Coffea Arabica species), belonging to the HD-Zip family, and characterized by a homeodomain associated with a leucine zipper. The expression of this transcriptional factor is induced in leaves and roots of coffee plants subjected to various water deficit conditions (both moderate and severe); transgenic plants that over-express this gene inhibiting greater tolerance both to differ drought intensities and to high salt concentrations.

  • Patent number: 8219135
Abstract: The present invention refers to a method for establishing a communication network that connects a group or community of users using wireless equipments according to their defined interests. These equipments are preferentially portable, low cost, and user-friendly, where each equipment must be configurable using its user's profile, which contains a small amount of the user's personal data, namely the miniprofile. The method uses a collection of such miniprofiles to transparently set a communication network among the associate users to establish a virtual community. In addition, each profile will contain further information on user's interests, which the method will propagate across the communication network to the established virtual community in a way that their members will be able to form groups based on common interests while allowing for interaction among their members. The user profile can be set identifiable or anonymous, may or not be shareable in relation to the other members of a group.
