Abstract: A direct double-frequency ripple current control in a two-stage high-frequency-link (HFL) based fuel cell converter that can achieve low-frequency ripple free input current without using large electrolytic capacitors is provided. To eliminate the double-frequency ripple current disturbance introduced by the single-phase inverter load, a proportional-resonant (PR) controller is developed to achieve an extra high control gain at designed resonant frequency. This high gain can be viewed as the virtual high impedance for blocking the double-frequency ripple energy propagation from inverter load to fuel cell stack. More particularly, the proposed control system can realize the utilization of all capacitive ripple energy sources in the system by regulating all the capacitors to have large voltage swing and the voltage swing is synchronized to keep real-time balancing of the transformer primary-side and secondary-side voltages.

Abstract: An example system and method of processing cardiac activation information are disclosed. The method includes accessing a first cardiac signal and a second cardiac signal obtained from a patient. The first cardiac signal and the second cardiac signal are processed to determine whether there is a point of change in the first cardiac signal at which a derivative of the first cardiac signal diverges with respect to a derivative of the second cardiac signal above a threshold. An activation onset time is assigned in the first cardiac signal at the point of change to define a cardiac activation if the point of change is in the first cardiac signal.

Abstract: This invention relates to methods and devices for clock offset and skew estimation. The invention has particular application in the alignment of slave clocks to a master clock. In embodiments of the invention, the slave clock employs an independent free running clock and a recursive estimation technique to estimate the clock offset and clock skew between the slave and master clocks. The slave can then use the offset and skew to correct the free running clock to reflect an accurate image of the master clock.

Abstract: There is set forth herein a sensor for sensing of substances. The sensor can include a sensing crystal oscillator and a reference crystal oscillator. The sensing crystal oscillator and the reference crystal oscillator can be arranged in a phase locked loop so that the oscillators oscillate at a common frequency. The sensor can be configured so that there is a baseline phase differential between the oscillation frequencies of the sensing crystal oscillator and the reference crystal oscillator. Detectable substances accumulating on the sensing crystal oscillator will induce a phase shift between output frequencies of the reference oscillator and the sensing crystal oscillator to allow for highly sensitive sensing of substances in small concentrations.

Abstract: A controlling device such as a remote control has programming for transmitting a signal response to a plurality of control environments, each environment including a signaling device. Each signaling device in receipt of the signal request sends a signal response having a unique ID which is chosen to be characteristically attenuated by the surroundings of the environment. Because the controlling device can only be in one environment at a given time, and given the attenuation characteristics of the signal response from each signaling device, only one signal response will be received by the controlling device in each environment. Location definitions associated with the received unique ID may be used by programming in the controlling device to recall saved devices states, commands sets, macros, and even to dynamically generate commands based on the location information.
