Abstract: Metal-organic framework (MOF) materials are provided and are selectively adsorbent to xenon (Xe) over another noble gas such as krypton (Kr) and/or argon (Ar) as a result of having framework voids (pores) sized to this end. MOF materials having pores that are capable of accommodating a Xe atom but have a small enough pore size to receive no more than one Xe atom are desired to preferentially adsorb Xe over Kr in a multi-component (Xe—Kr mixture) adsorption method. The MOF material has 20% or more, preferably 40% or more, of the total pore volume in a pore size range of 0.45-0.75 nm which can selectively adsorb Xe over Kr in a multi-component Xe—Kr mixture over a pressure range of 0.01 to 1.0 MPa.

Abstract: “A computer-implemented method and system (“Legion”) for capturing and outsourcing an existing graphical user interface (“GUI”) of an application to a crowd for their collaborative real-time control using an input device are provided. A crowd refers to a dynamic pool of one or a plurality of anonymous worker of varying skill level and/or reliability. The pool is dynamic because workers are able to come and go at their leisure and no specific worker can be relied upon to be available at a given time or to continue working on a job for a specific amount of time. Mediation strategies for integrating the input of multiple crowd workers in real-time is also provided.

Abstract: A simple method was developed to extract adipose-derived stromal stem cells (ASCs) without using enzymatic digestion of the collagen in adipose tissue. The resulting ASCs isolated by the simple wash method have lower levels of CD34 expression, a hematopoietic stem cell marker, as compared to ASCs isolated using conventional enzymatic digestion using collagenase. This characteristic is consistent with non-enzymatically treated stem cells obtained from bone marrow aspirates, which are negative for CD34. Additionally, the washed ASCs have higher levels of CD44 expression, a hyaluronate receptor, and lower levels of contaminating hematopoietic cells, as evidenced by low CD45 expression, as compared to enzymatically digested cells. The cells produced by this simple method can be used therapeutically for allogenic or autologous tissue regeneration, and can be administered using any pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

Abstract: The present invention provides a device for suppressing common-mode radiation comprising: at least one resonator embedded into a plate, wherein the at least one resonator defines a plane having a normal direction parallel and perpendicular, respectively, to a longitudinal direction and a thickness direction of the plate. The embedment of the resonator into the plate enables a magnetic field, which is generated by a cable conductor when the device for suppressing common-mode radiation wraps the cable conductor therein, to perpendicularly pass through the plane so that the magnetic field and the resonator resonate together to generate a strong diamagnetism and thereby to suppress the common-mode radiation.

Abstract: The present invention provides a solar water heating apparatus which includes concentric inner and outer vessels defining an annular cavity therebetween, within which cavity a phase change material is located, and which is vaporised when solar radiation is incident on the outer vessel, in order to transfer heat to a water store contained in the inner vessel, this water store being fed fresh unheated water while the heated water is extracted therefrom for domestic or other purposes.
Abstract: A method to support efficient, interactive, and fuzzy search on text data includes an interactive, fuzzy search on structured data used in applications such as query relaxation, autocomplete, and spell checking, where inconsistencies and errors exist in user queries as well as data. It utilizes techniques to efficiently and interactively answer fuzzy queries on structured data to allow users to efficiently search for information interactively, and they can find records and documents even if these records and documents are slightly different from the user keywords.

Abstract: The present invention provides an organic/inorganic compositive dispersant and a method for producing the same. The compositive dispersant comprises a complex of inorganic clay and an organic surfactant. The compositive dispersant is produced by reacting inorganic clay with the organic surfactant in a solvent to generate a complex. The inorganic clay is layered or platelet. The organic surfactant is an anionic surfactant such as alkyl sulfates, or a nonionic surfactant such as octylphenol polyethoxylate and polyoxyethylene alkyl ether. The compositive dispersant may be used to produce electrolytes of a solar cell or to increase the hardness of an epoxy resin.
Abstract: A method for isolating Hepatitis A virus or Spring viremia of Carp virus. A virus probe is prepared by linking a magnetic bead-conjugated Protein G with an anti-HAV (Hepatitis A Virus) antibody or an anti-rhabdovirus antibody. The virus probe is contacted with a sample to be analyzed to form a virus probe-virus complex. The virus probe-virus complex is then isolated. It may specifically isolate Hepatitis A virus or Spring viremia of Carp virus from a sample mixed viruses.

Abstract: Treatment systems are described which uncouple the solids retention time (SRT) of the recycling bacteria from the wasting bacteria. Elevated recycling bacteria SRTs increase concentrations of nitrifying bacteria in the aeration basin and Anammox bacteria in the anoxic basin, improving nitrification and anaerobic ammonium oxidation. Fluorescence in situ hybridizations were used to identify and determine the abundance of nitrifying bacteria and Anammox bacteria (recycling bacteria) in freshly settled sludge of biological nutrient removal (BNR) secondary clarifiers. An uneven distribution was observed for recycling bacteria in two BNR systems. Settling patterns suggest microcolony formation processes are sensitive to the internal recycle rate, which allow for rapid recycling bacteria microcolony growth by increasing circulation of flocs through the aeration and anoxic basins. Uncoupling the SRT enhances aeration and/or anoxic basin utilization and reduces the overall hydraulic residence time.
Abstract: A method of revising depth of a three-dimensional (3D) image is disclosed. The method comprises the following steps: firstly, at least one initial depth map associated with one image of the 3D image pair based on stereo matching technique is received, wherein the one image comprises a plurality of pixels, and the initial depth map carries an initial depth value of each pixel. Then, the inconsistence among the pixels of the one image of the 3D image pair is detected to estimate a reliable map. Finally, the initial depth value is interpolated according to the reliable map and the proximate pixels, so as to generate a revised depth map by revising the initial depth value.
