Abstract: According to this treatment, calcium is added to ultra low molten steel or low carbon which is aluminum killed (or in the course of being killed) in order to form non-metallic deoxidation inclusions that have a melting point which is below the casting temperature; the molten metal is maintained in the chain of treatment ranging from the ladle refining installation to the copper mold with a low minimum low magnesium content of approximately 2 ppm. The inventive method increases the scope of fusibility of the inclusionary population of steels, thereby improving the castability of high aluminum-killed ultra low carbon grades without the need for argon bubbling.

Abstract: The invention concerns a cold-rolled aluminum killed steel sheet, which includes by weight between 0.003 and 0.130% of carbon, between 0.10 and 1% of manganese, between 0.010 and 0.100% of aluminum, between 0.0015 and 0.0140% nitrogen, the remainder being of iron and impurities resulting from the manufacturing, and which has a content of carbon in solid solution (Css) of at least 50 ppm, as well as a method of manufacturing packaging from said sheet.
Abstract: An industrial furnace has at least one assembly formed by an extruder for extracting hot gas present in a given zone of the furnace, a water/gas heat exchanger for cooling the hot gas, and a reinjecting device for reinjecting the cooled gas into a zone of the furnace situated downstream from the zone from which the hot gas was extracted. First and second sampling devices sample the hot gas at points each situated upstream and downstream from a heat exchanger and two-port valves allowing the sampling to be performed. A regulating device regulates the respective pressures of the hot gas and the cooled gas downstream from the sampling devices. A three-port valve selects the hot gas or the cooled gas and applies it to a hygrometer. An operator is informed of the results of analyses performed by the hygrometer so that the operator may compare the degree of humidity of the hot gas and of the cooled gas for each of the heat exchangers.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for continuously casting a ferritic stainless steep strip with thickness not more than 10 mm directly from liquid metal between two cooled rolls with horizontal axes and driven in rotation, characterized in that: the liquid metal composition in weight percentages is as follows: % C+% N≦0.12; % Mn≦1; % P≦0.4; % Si≦1; % Mo≦2.5; % Cr between 11 and 19; A1≦1%; % Ti+%Nb+% Zr≦1; the rest being iron and the impurities resulting from preparation; the &Ugr;p index of the liquid metal ranges between 35% and 60%, &Ugr;p being defined by the formula: &ggr;p=420% C+470% N+23% Ni+9% Cu+7% Mn 11.5% Cr 11.5% Si 12% Mo 23% V 47% Nb 49% Ti 52% A1+189: the surface roughness of said rolls being more than 5 &mgr;m; in the proximity of the meniscus metal liquid present between the rolls an inerting gas is used consisting of at least 60% by volume of a gas soluble in steel.
Abstract: The adhesive bonding system is chosen, applied and, where appropriate, crosslinked so as to have a critical energy release rate in mode I (tension) greater than 1500 J/m2 and a critical energy release rate in mode II (shear) greater than 2000 J/m2. The composite sheet is easily drawable to form parts requiring no curing after forming.

Abstract: A metallurgical product, made of carbon steel and to be galvanized, which is in the form of a strip or of a sheet obtained from a continuously cast intermediate product having the following composition by weight: 0.0005%≦C≦0.15%; 0.08%≦Mn≦2%; Si≦0.040%; Altotal≦0.010%; Alsoluble≦0.004%; 0.0050%≦Ototal≦0.0500%; P≦0.20%; S≦0.10%; each of Cu, Cr, Ni, Mo, W, Co≦1%; each of Ti, Nb, V, Zr≦0.5%; each of Sn, Sb, As≦0.1%; B≦0.1%; N≦0.0400%; and the remainder being iron and impurities. Also, a process for obtaining a metallurgical intermediate product, which includes: producing in a ladle a liquid steel the composition of which is as above, and in which the dissolved oxygen content is maintained between 0.0050 and 0.0500% by the establishment of a chemical equilibrium between the metal and the ladle slag; and casting said steel on a continuous casting machine.

Abstract: Dip-coated ferrite stainless steel sheet usable in the automobile exhaust sector, characterized in that it comprises a steel core with the following composition by weight:
10.5%≦chromium≦20%
0%≦aluminum≦0.6%
0.003%≦carbon≦0.06%
0.003%≦nitrogen≦0.04%
0%≦silicon≦0.6%
0%≦manganese≦0.6%
0%≦sulfur≦0.002% iron and impurities inherent in processing, and a metal coating deposited by dipping the strip in a molten metal bath containing in particular aluminum and at least one rare earth element: cerium, lanthanum, praseodymium, neodymium, mixed metal and/or yttrium.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method which consists in injecting into a molten metal bath to be treated, jointly but separately into the same bath zone, oxygen and carbon in a form capable of being blown (powder carbon preferably) so as to generate locally in the bath CO bubbles from those two elements, which will then be loaded in denitriding nitrogen. A stoichiometric adjustment of the carbon and oxygen inputs enable a constant carbon denitriding in the bath. The method is preferably applicable to the production of low-carbon steel grades, in particular in an electric oven.

Abstract: A side wall closing the casting space of an installation for continuous casting of thin metal strips between unwinding cooled walls, including a support plate, on the rear face of which thrust members exert their action, and an active face arranged against the front face of the support plate. Lateral portions are designed to be worn by contact with the edges of the cooled walls over a maximum depth “e” and a length “1”. The support plate and the active part are urged in contact with each other in a way enabling them to be disengaged non-destructively. The support plate front face has in its central part a recess whereof the depth is greater than “e” and the outer edges of the front face have a general shape which matches that of the outer edges of the active part and have a length less than “1”.
