    Abstract: Method of and apparatus for threading of a wrapper end (31) from a wrapper roll (3) to a nip between wrapper proportioning drawing rolls (11, 15) in a wrapping station for wrapping paper rolls, board rolls and pulp rolls, in which the prepared wrapped roll (3) is rotated in a use station in the direction opposite to the wrapper feeding direction in such way that the wrapper end (31) falls on a wrapper feeding table (10). The wrapper end (31) that has fallen on the wrapper feeding table (10) is indicated and the rotating motion or the wrapper roll is stopped when the wrapper end (31) has been detected. Now the roll (3) is rotated in the wrapper feeding direction, until the wrapper end (31) passes an indicator placed after the drawings rolls.

    Abstract: An improved system for detecting and controlling vibration of a wound roll in a winding machine includes a programmable controller to which the line speed of a web, diameter of the wound roll and vibration of the wound roll feedback is provided. The programmable controller computes the wound roll rotational frequency from the line speed and diameter feedback and uses this information to filter the vibration feedback so that the components of the vibration due solely to the rotation of the wound roll are isolated. The isolated vibration components are provided to a level detector which decelerates the winding machine when a predetermined vibration level is reached. In one embodiment, the rotational frequency is used to calculate coefficients for a band pass filter which filters the vibration feedback.

Further, at least one electrode (25) is at a potential higher than that of said counter-electrode (26), and the potential difference between said electrodes (25, 26) is made so high as to generate a corona discharge between said electrodes that causes an ion-blast wind toward the electrode (26) of the lower potential, said ion-blast wind being capable of transferring particular matter, which enters the gap between said electrodes, toward said electrode of lower potential.

The roll identification information of a roll set leaving the slitter, that is, the sequence of rolls exiting from the slitter as a group is transmitted for the use of the roll marking equipment and the customer rolls are moved away from the slitter area only via the roll marking equipment and new rolls are prevented from entering the slitter area in any other form except as a new roll set. As a result, the correct identification data for each roll set is continuously available to the marking equipment.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for coating a paper or board web, wherein the web to be coated is brought to a film transfer coater and taken to a nip between the film transfer roll of the coater and its backing roll, and coating mix is applied onto the surface of the film transfer roll. The web is taken through the nip between the rolls and the rolls are turned, whereby the coating mix applied onto the applicator roll is at least partly transferred onto the surface of the web. The web is supported through the nip by means of a belt traveling at the same speed as the web, the belt having been arranged to travel on the backing roll. The web is taken onto the surface of the belt prior to the nip and separated from the belt after the nip, and it is pressed against the film transfer roll by means of the belt. The length of the path where the web and the film transfer roll are in contact with each other is controlled by varying the position of the web and the belt.
