  • Patent number: 5926233
Abstract: A receptacle has an inset and a housing for the fastening of an LCD screen. The screen has contact surfaces and consists, at least in part, of a plastic injection molding. Plastic springs which are formed by molding on the inset prestress the LCD screen against the housing, and thus fasten it in the receptacle. In this connection, a heat-sealing foil at the same time is prestressed against the contact surfaces of the LCD screen and against the contact surfaces of a plate.

  • Patent number: 5900821
Abstract: In a rain sensor system for a motor vehicle, a sensor element is provided as separate part for attachment in the vicinity of a vehicle window. The sensor element is wiped by a separate wiper blade which is fastened to a windshield wiper or driven by the latter. As a function of the a degree of wetness present on its top, the sensor element supplies electric signals to an evaluation electronics. Above a limit value of the signals, the evaluation electronics connects the windshield wiper.

  • Patent number: 5900704
Abstract: A process and a system for controlling an electrohydraulic pressure supply for an auxiliary power device of an automotive vehicle in which a hydraulic pump system is operated by means of an electric motor the speed of rotation of which is controlled by operating parameters. In order to operate the auxiliary power system with the least possible energy, the changes in speed of rotation which differ from a predetermined desired speed of rotation of the electric motor are recognized and levelled out. In order to operate the power-assisted system with the least possible energy, the switching of the electric motor (2) from stand-by operation to full-load operation, or vice versa, takes place as a function of the speed of rotation (n) of the electric motor (2).

  • Patent number: 5854545
Abstract: An acknowledgement-free method for the positioning of an actuator by means of an electric motor which is controlled as a function of time by a microprocessor, wherein there are proportionality constants K.sub.1, K.sub.2 of a formulaAdjustment Path=K.multidot.Adjustment Timeas well as the corresponding times T.sub.1, T.sub.2 for the braking of the rotor, after disconnection of the electric motor, from a first speed of rotation N.sub.a to a second speed of rotation N.sub.b. The constant K.sub.1 and K.sub.2 are the times T.sub.1 and T.sub.2 are determined and stored for the structural unit consisting of actuator and electric motor at at least two different loads B.sub.1, B.sub.2. Upon operation of the actuator, the time T.sub.x for the braking of the rotor from N.sub.a to N.sub.b is measured and, with the use of the stored times T.sub.1, T.sub.2, the proportionality constant K.sub.x corresponding to the time T.sub.x is calculated by linear interpolation and used for the control.

  • Patent number: 5836153
Abstract: A method for controlling the fuel-air ratio of an internal combustion engine in which the output signal of a first lambda probe, which is arranged in front of a catalytic converter in the exhaust pipe of the internal combustion engine, is fed to a controller. The controller gives off a setting variable for the fuel-air ratio, and a further signal which is obtained from the output signal of a second lambda probe arranged behind the catalytic converter is fed to the controller. In order to permit an accurate and adjustable control which further improves the fuel-air ratio in the sense of a reduction of the exhaust emission, a hold time is obtained on the output signal of the second lambda probe as a function of the time of the reversal of the output signal of the first lambda probe, whereby the output signal of the controller is shifted in time.

  • Patent number: 5825115
Abstract: An electric motor has two exciter windings, independent of each other, on a stator, by which windings a resultant magnetic field can be produced. The motor includes a permanently magnetized rotor which has at least one pair of poles, the rotor changing its position as a function of the magnetic field, and the rotor being arranged axially on a rotor shaft. In the case of an electric motor which is of a small size and easy to manufacture, the stator is developed with several arms, and has an opening present at the center to receive the rotor. The individual arms are arranged around the opening and, there are, two pairs of opposite arms. The opposite arms are so bent towards each other so that, upon their receiving a respective exciter winding, they produce magnetic vectors which are perpendicular to each other.

  • Patent number: 5801539
Abstract: A moisture sensor has two spaced main electrodes which are arranged on the outer side of the windshield of a motor vehicle in a region which is passed over by the windshield wiper and are connected to an evaluation circuit for the determination of resistance as a function of a degree of moisture. In order to improve the precision of the measurement results supplied by the moisture sensor, an auxiliary electrode is arranged between the two main electrodes outside a region passed over by the wiper in order to determine a shunt resistance formed by residues on the windshield and/or in the region of a windshield gasket covering. The main electrodes and the auxiliary electrode lead to an evaluation circuit.

  • Patent number: 5798640
Abstract: A passive magnetic position sensor is constructed of an electrically non-conductive, non-magnetic substrate on which a resistance layer and a soft-magnetic, electrically conductive bending-beam structure are arranged. The resistance layer and bending-beam structure are arranged at a constant distance apart partially overlapping each other. The distance apart is selected so that, under the action of a magnet device conducted along the overlapping region of the bending-beam structure and resistance layer, contact is produced between resistance layer and soft-magnetic bending-beam structure. In order to provide a position sensor which permits a precise tapping of voltage, the electrically conductively developed resistance layer has along its longitudinal direction a meander-like structure adjoined by taps which have contact surfaces on the regions opposite the soft-magnetic bending-beam structure.

  • Patent number: 5791926
Abstract: A plug-in connector for an electric system, in particular for motor-vehicle instrument clusters, in which an electrical contact arranged in a first connector part can be detachably connected by an actuating device with a mating contact which is fastened in a second connector part. In order to fasten the indicating device in an easy and inexpensive manner to the instrument board and, at the same time, permit a reliable electric contact to be made, the electric contact is connected to the electric mating contact by a linear movement of the actuating device within the first connector part which has the electric contact and is fastened on a circuit board. The second connector part is firmly attached to a support element. During the contacting of contact and mating contact, the first connector part can be simultaneously locked with the support element by a locking device for the actuating device which protrudes beyond the first connector part in the direction of movement.

  • Patent number: 5783817
Abstract: In a device for detecting a position of an object (linear or circular strip) moving in rotation or translation relative to a base, an incremental track bearing periodically recurring marks and two index tracks bearing a plurality of index marks are scanned by sensors. These sensors supply analog signals which are complementary to each other. In each case, two complementary signals are combined to form a logical track. By a combining of the logical tracks with each other, a further logical track is formed which contains a serial code which corresponds to the absolute value of the position of the object.

  • Patent number: 5780718
Abstract: A rain sensor for the windshield of a vehicle has one or more electrically conductive layers which are arranged in a given pattern upon the outer surface of such windshield, and is constructed as a laminate of conductive and resistive layers formed by process steps of printing and sintering for construction of electrodes of the sensor. A conductive layer is formed of a mixture of electrically conductive particles and a glass frit which melts at a lower temperature than a melting temperature of the material of the window which serves as a support for the sensor. The conductive paste is applied with a heating action step, in the configuration of an electrode structure, by sintering to the window.
