  • Patent number: 5496973
Abstract: The rod-shaped load cell consists of a guide section (1), which is subdivided into a frame (6) and a load-bearing element (7), and two parallel, rigid plates (8) connecting the two cited elements. Plates (8) are connected to both frame (6) and load-bearing element (7) by band-shaped flexural joints (9) which extend across the overall length of guide section (1). The load cell rests via frame (6) upon two feet (2) located outermost on rod-shaped guide section (1). The platform (5) rests upon two mounting elements (3) also located outermost on guide section (1), with the mounting elements (3) acting on load-bearing element (7). A force sensor (4) is diagonally installed at half the length of guide section (1). When platform (5) is loaded, tensile force acts upon force sensor (4) (see FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 5463192
Abstract: A measurement instrument in which, when the initially loaded instrument is partly unloaded in such a fashion that the part load falls in a lower load range with a finer display-scale interval, the instrument continues to use the scale for the larger load until the load is removed completely. When the load is removed completely, however, the display reads "zero" as soon as the result R(m) at calculation stage m satisfies the condition .vertline.R(m).vertline..ltoreq.d.sub.jmax /2 (zero region) where d.sub.jmax is the largest display-scale interval. The next-finer display-scale interval is selected if the difference d.sub.s between two successive results determined at a particular time-interval satisfies the condition d.sub.j .ltoreq.d.sub.2 /10. A zero store is updated to include each result in the zero region.

  • Patent number: 5315883
Abstract: The load measuring device according to the invention comprises at least three identical force meters that together support the frame (2) and, for example, are supported on the chassis (1) of a truck. The individual force meter comprises a flexural spring (10) as primary spring of an elastic reduction, and a further flexural spring (17) as secondary spring of the elastic reduction. A force transducer (18) with at least one perpendicularly oscillating cord is inserted between the center section (15) of the flexural spring (10) and the center of the flexural spring (17); this force transducer (18) measures the reduced force flow subject to the firmness of the flexural springs (10 and 17). The outside sections (13) of the flexural spring (10), for example, are connected to the frame (2), and the center section (15), for example, is connected to the chassis (1).

  • Patent number: 5285860
Abstract: The present invention concerns a process and a device for carrying out the process for weight determination of the contents of containers (5), for example for garbage. Two swivel arms (2) that are lifted by hydraulic devices (3) are mounted on a garbage collecting vehicle (1). The container (5) is carried by a fork (4). Integrated into the swivel arm (2) is a force measuring apparatus that comprises two flexural members (7) supporting the main load, two spring tongues (8), and a force transducer (11) that is installed between two stilts (12) between the spring tongues (8). The flexural members (7) and the spring tongues together form an elastic stepdown; the force transducer (11) thus only measures that part of the total load flowing through it as given by the stepdown. Further, a gradient meter (16) is mounted on the swivel arm (2), that has the same action line W as the force measurement device integrated in the swivel arm (2).

  • Patent number: 5161628
Abstract: The vehicle springs, here leaf spring (7) are the primary spring (and) measuring springs (11) engaged parallel thereto are the secondary springs of elastic force dividers. The part of the weight force of a vehicle (6) flowing over the measuring springs is led over a force sensor (5). A clinometer (12) measures both longitudinal and also transverse inclination of the vehicle (6). The signals of the force sensors (5) and of the clinometer (12) are fed to a computer, which forces the sum of the weight forces that act upon the (here) four force sensors (5). Besides the inclination correction mentioned, the computer performs all the weighing arithmetic operations, such as tare weight formation, weight difference determination, and also calculates transport performance magnitudes.

  • Patent number: 5099701
Abstract: A balance and an elastic, force reducing dynamometer. The dynamometer, is of the type having a plurality of plate springs and a laterally oscillating wire clamped between a pair of wire clamping heads which are shifted under load only in a direction parallel to the clamping heads. This result is achieved by mounting the wire clamping heads in approximately the center of the corresponding one of two plate springs with a pair of struts. In alternate embodiments of the invention, both struts which mount a clamping head may be straight, one strut may be straight and the other strut offset, or both struts may be offset. The elasticity of the struts and the ratios are variable and adjustable within wide limits.

  • Patent number: 5088334
Abstract: A dynamometer comprising a pair of similar leaf springs (4 and 5), lying in approximately the same plane, and at least one additional leaf spring (24). The outer part of the additional leaf spring (24) and any other supplementary leaf springs (6, 7, 19, and 20) replacing the single leaf spring and being fastened to the frame (1) and the inner part being fstened to the middle block (8). The leaf springs (6, 7, and 24) lie in a plane approximately parallel to that of the first pair of leaf springs (4 and 5), while the supplementary leaf springs (19 and 20) lie in the same plane as the first pair of leaf springs (4 and 5). An elastic rod (9 and 10) is attached to the middle of each of the leaf springs (4 and 5), respectively, and a force-measuring device (11) is located between these rods.

  • Patent number: 5078015
Abstract: An elastic force reducing balance and dynamometer comprising a primary spring and a secondary spring which are stressed by bending when an input force is exerted. In at least one of the primary and secondary springs, at least one bar is formed which is stressed, at least partially, by torsion. In this manner, the overall creep of the balance and dynamometer is substantially reduced or eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5050693
Abstract: A balance, which is virtually insensitive to angular deviation and to the presence of additional accelerations of the base, has two dynamometers (2, 3) each having a parallel guide (26). The parallel guides are mutually parallel and their degree of freedom coincides with the direction of gravitational acceleration when the balance is horizontal. The dynamometer (2) measures the weight (M) of the object to be weighed, and the dynamometer (3) measures that of a reference mass (8, 22,24). The balance also has a computer (4) which, from the signals emitted by the two dynamometers (2,3), accurately determines the mass of the object to be weighed independently of the angular deviation of the instantaneous total acceleration. During calibration, which can be carried out only by the manufacturer, the dynamometer (3) determines the weight R.sub.1, R.sub.2 of the reference mass (8, 22, 24) at two different inclinations of the balance and the dynamometer (2) determines the weight (N.sub.1, N.sub.

  • Patent number: 4914961
Abstract: Device for fastening a vibrating wire to a component of a meter. The device comprises a body having two prongs and two cylindrical, conical, prismatic or wedge-shaped retainers made of electrically insulating material. The retainers are in contact with the prongs on one side and, due to the clamping action of the prongs, hold the full width of the wire by friction on the other side, insulating it electrically.
