  • Publication number: 20070004826
Abstract: A composition comprising cellulose ether, a superplasticizer and defoamer suitable for use as an additive in extruding inorganic compositions is disclosed. The inventive composition functions as a water retention agent, plasticizer and lubricant in the extrusion of inorganic compositions. The use of the inventive composition in the extrusion of building materials leads to improved processing properties, to a higher surface quality and product properties of the extruded article.

  • Publication number: 20060287516
Abstract: A process for producing aminoalkyl-containing guar derivative is disclosed. The process entails a) dispersing a member selected from the group consisting of guar and guar derivative in a mixture of a water-miscible aprotic solvent and water and b) alkalyizing the member with a base to obtain a mixture containing an alkalized member and c) etherifying the mixture with an amino-containing reagent to obtained an etherified mixture and d) optionally neutralizing the etherified mixture to obtain a material system containing a reaction product and e) optionally filtering the material system to obtain the reaction product and f) optionally washing the reaction product and g) optionally drying the reaction product referred to in f) and h) optionally grinding the reaction product. The product thus obtained is suitable for producing hair conditioners and flocculation aids.

  • Patent number: 7071326
Abstract: An anionic cellulose nitrate derivative is described, which has: (i) a degree of acid group substitution (DS (acid)) in the range of 0.01 to 0.2; and (ii) a nitrogen content of 10.7 wt. % to 12.3 wt. %, based on the weight of cellulose nitrate derivative. The anionic cellulose nitrate derivative is prepared by a process which includes esterifying cellulose nitrate feed material with at least one dicarboxylic acid anhydride (e.g., maleic anhydride). • Patent number: 6958393
Abstract: A description is given of cellulose derivatives having gel-like rheological properties in aqueous solution characterized in that: a) cellulose is alkalized with aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution in the presence of a suspension medium, b) the alkalized cellulose is reacted with one or more alkylene oxides, c) then reacted with an alkyl halide present in the suspension medium d) subsequently or simultaneously the alkalized cellulose is reacted with a crosslinking agent in an amount of 0.0001 to 0.05 eq, where the unit “eq” represents the molar ratio of crosslinking agent relative to the anhydroglucose unit (AGU) of the cellulose used, and e) after, if appropriate, further addition of alkali metal hydroxide and/or alkylating agent, the resultant irreversibly crosslinked cellulose derivative is separated off from the reaction mixture, if appropriate purified and dried.

  • Patent number: 6667395
Abstract: A description is given of a process for the industrial preparation of methylhydroxyalkylcelluloses (MHACs) by reaction of cellulose with alkali metal hydroxide and subsequent reaction with an alkyl halide and hydroxyalkylating agent, characterized in that the reaction is carried out batchwise in a reactor which has an L/D ratio of less than 2.5 and in which the unmixed regions are minimized and the batch reactor is preceded at the inlet by a continuously operated cellulose milling facility and is followed at the outlet by a continuously running plant for milling and drying the products, with the product being transported by action of gravity. An apparatus for carrying out this process and the methylhydroxyalkylcellulose obtainable by the process are also described.
