Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to an advanced gateway device (“gateway”) for enabling communications between devices operating on or in communication with a communications network. The gateway includes a universal integrated circuit card (“UICC”), a router for interfacing with a number of devices, a network interface for communicating with the communications network, and one or more applications for managing associated devices and communications between the devices and the communications network. The gateway is registered with the communications network by transmitting information generated by the UICC to the communications network. Devices communicating with the gateway can access services provided by components of the communications network, and remote devices can access the devices communicating with the gateway based upon a trust relationship established between the gateway and the communications network.

  • Patent number: 10158454
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards adaptive interleaving in network communications systems based on one or more conditions with respect to user equipment. When conditions such as the speed of the user equipment indicate that performance can be increased by interleaving the data traffic, data is transmitted to the user equipment using an adaptive interleaver in the coding chain of MIMO systems. The adaptive interleaver is not used when conditions indicate performance is unlikely to improve. Adaptive interleaving may be performed in the frequency domain, in the frequency and time domain, or the frequency time and space domain. Multiple interleavers with different interleaving patterns may be used in the frequency domain and in the frequency and time domain. Adaptive interleaving may be based on one or more various criteria corresponding to the condition data received from the user equipment.

  • Patent number: 10158966
Abstract: Connected cars are coupled to several communication devices (e.g., embedded devices and/or user equipment (UE) of occupants of the car) having independent data links to a communication network (e.g., cellular network). Peer-to-peer (P2P) protocols can be employed to consolidate and aggregate multiple data links within the car to create an aggregated data link that is shared by the devices. During initialization, a local platform device within the connected car sets up a local tracker and communicates with a backend network device to setup a corresponding remote tracker. The trackers generate virtual data nodes corresponding to the communication devices and facilitate communication between the virtual data nodes and the devices via P2P protocols. Moreover, the P2P protocol technology is overlaid on the application layers of the communication devices without modifications to the devices' hardware and software construction.

The basic firewall can provide filtering of traffic at the network transport layer using the virtual switch, and as such, the virtual switch may not operate on the application layer.

Abstract: A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may perform operations, for example, including determining a first correlation value between a behavior of a first audience member and a subject matter being presented at a display processor, wherein the subject matter being presented at the display is observable by the first audience member. A second correlation value is determined between the behavior of the first audience member and a characteristic of an environment in a vicinity of the display and the first audience member. Responsive to the second correlation value exceeding the first correlation value, a determination is made as to whether a present channel selection resulting from user input initiated by the first audience member is responsive to the characteristic of the environment influencing the audience member more than the subject matter being presented at the display. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10152453
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing patient information on a primary computer system involving the creation of an electronic patient chart; receiving updated information to the patient chart; and automatically accessing a secondary system based on the updated information. The primary and secondary computer systems communicate to better manage inventory, medical prescriptions and other administrative concerns. When the patient chart is edited by a healthcare professional, the primary computer system evaluates the updated information and then sends requests to one or more secondary systems automatically. The updated information may involve the need for a new medicine for the patient, a new appointment for the patient to be set up, and/or a new bill to be generated for the patient, among others. The secondary system or systems provide back-end management for these requests. Such back-end management occurs relatively automatically and substantially in real time.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for facilitating a wireless transaction by coupling or associating an identifier to a location. The identifier is read, retrieved, or received by a customer's wireless communication device to connect to a POS terminal. Once connected, the wireless communication device sends a location identifier to the POS terminal, so that the POS terminal can associate the wireless communication device with the location. Once an association is established, the POS terminal then presents options. The POS terminal receives selections, and alerts a staff member of selections and the location. In many instances, the POS terminal also adds the selection to a bill or an invoice.
