  • Patent number: 9807350
Abstract: Systems and associated methods for capturing media content for a plurality of guests and intelligently parsing the media content to produce a customized/personalized media product for a particular guest or group of guests are described. A system is configured for combining video data and position tracking data to record a group guest experience or show and automatically provide custom media products. Embodiments record a plurality of guests throughout an experience or show, and simultaneously position track each guest individually. • Patent number: 9805264
Abstract: Techniques disclose an incrementally expanding object detection model. An object detection tool identifies, based on an object detection model, one or more objects in a sequence of video frames. The object detection model provides an object space including a plurality of object classes. Each object class includes one or more prototypes. Each object is classified as being an instance of one of the object classes. Each identified object is tracked across at least one of the frames. The object detection tool generates a measure of confidence for that object based on the tracking. Upon determining that the measure of confidence exceeds a threshold, the object detection tool adds a prototype of the instance to the object detection model.

  • Patent number: 9792723
Abstract: The disclosure provides an approach for progressively sculpting three-dimensional (3D) geometry. In one configuration, a sculpting application receives time-based sculpts and stores the sculpted changes from the original geometry, referred to herein as “offsets,” in “fixes” which include (time, offsets) pairs, with the offsets being defined in relation to a reference frame. Each fix may further be associated with a “set” which includes portions of the geometry that are managed together. The sculpting application automatically provides smooth transitions between sculpts by applying scatter-data interpolation to interpolate the offsets of successive fixes, thereby generating new offsets for frames in between user-provided fixes. Further, the user may modify an envelope curve for a set to scale offsets, including offsets in fixes and those automatically generated through interpolation.

  • Patent number: 9786062
Abstract: The disclosure provides an approach for estimating depth in a scene. According to one aspect, regions where the depth estimation is expected to perform well may first be identified in full-resolution epipolar-plane images (EPIs) generated from a plurality of images of the scene. Depth estimates for EPI-pixels with high edge confidence are determined by testing a number of discrete depth hypotheses and picking depths that lead to highest color density of sampled EPI-pixels. The depth estimate may also be propagated throughout the EPIs. This process of depth estimation and propagation may be iterated until all EPI-pixels with high edge confidence have been processed, and all EPIs may also be processed in this manner. The EPIs are then iteratively downsampled to coarser resolutions, at which edge confidence for EPI-pixels not yet processed are determined, depth estimates of EPI-pixels with high edge confidence made, and depth estimates propagated throughout the EPIs.

  • Patent number: 9776323
Abstract: A trained classifier to be used with a navigation algorithm for use with mobile robots to compute safe and efficient trajectories. An offline learning process is used to train a classifier for the navigation algorithm (or motion planner), and the classifier functions, after training is complete, to accurately detect intentions of humans within a space shared with the robot to block the robot from traveling along its current trajectory. At runtime, the trained classifier can be used with regression based on past trajectories of humans (or other tracked, mobile entities) to predict where the humans will move in the future and whether the humans are likely to be blockers. The planning algorithm or motion planner generates trajectories based on predictions of human behavior that allow the robot to navigate amongst crowds of people more safely and efficiently.

  • Patent number: 9770661
Abstract: Techniques are described for displaying avatars within a virtual environment in a way that avoids an appearance of offensive content. Embodiments of the invention receive a request specifying a first location within the virtual environment to move a first user-controlled virtual object to. A zone encompassing the specified location is then identified and a second location within the identified zone is determined. Embodiments then output the virtual environment for display in a manner that shows the first user-controlled virtual object positioned at the determined second location within the virtual environment.

  • Patent number: 9770655
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide techniques for establishing and reestablishing associations between users of game devices. In one embodiment, information about an association between a user of a first game device and a user of a second game device is stored in the nonvolatile memories of first and second game media, the first and second game media being communicatively coupled with the first and second game devices respectively. If the first game device loses track of the association (e.g., the user of the first game devices swaps out the first game medium for another one, or the memory resident on the first game medium is corrupted/erased), an association notification received at the first game device from the second game device may be used to reestablish the association at the first game device. In this manner, previously established associations between users of game devices may be automatically established/reestablished.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for leveraging machine learning to deliver time-sensitive media content offers to a consumer over an optimal device and channel. In an implementation, a server system transmits media content offers over an optimal device and channel to a user. The server system captures metadata of at least one of: the user's use of multiple devices, the user's media content preferences, the user's preferred transmission channels for receiving media content offers over the multiple devices, and the user's preferred times for receiving media content offers. The server system prepares a media content offer for transmission to the user. Based on the captured metadata, the server system selects a user device of the multiple user devices and a transmission channel of multiple transmission channels to transmit the media content offer; and transmits the media content offer to the selected user device over the selected transmission channel.

  • Patent number: 9769234
Abstract: Systems, methods and articles of manufacture for transcoding media content. Embodiments include receiving a request to perform a transcoding operation on a first instance of media content. The first instance of media content is analyzed to determine metadata describing the first instance of media content. Embodiments determine a set of currently available system resources for use in performing the transcoding operation on the first instance of media content. Additionally, embodiments divide the transcoding operation into a plurality of sub-operations based on the determined metadata and the determined set of currently available system resources. Each of the plurality of sub-operations corresponds to a respective portion of the first instance of media content. An execution of the plurality of sub-operations is initiated to produce a plurality of encoded fragments. Embodiments then combine the plurality of encoded fragments to produce an encoded instance of media content.

  • Patent number: 9761007
Abstract: The disclosure provides an approach for approximating a fully calculated image sequence from a subset of calculated image data. In one configuration, a rendering application calculates, for each image in the image sequence, a subset of pixels including pixels previously occluded by object(s) in preceding images and pixels whose ages have exceeded a threshold value. The rendering application then approximates the remaining non-calculated image data by interpolating the image data that has been calculated and merges the calculated and approximated image data to obtain the final image sequence. In a particular configuration, entire images may be recalculated at regular intervals to prevent excessive image quality degradation. In another configuration, the recalculation of pixel data may be offset by randomly initializing pixel age values. In yet another configuration, a combination of recalculating entire images and refreshing pixels at offset intervals may be used.
