A product identification technique for assisting the user in listing of the item for sale in the electronic marketplace is determined based on initial user input provided by the user. A prompt to provide additional user input is then displayed to the user in the user interface of the electronic marketplace application, where the additional user data corresponds to the determined product identification technique for assisting the user. A listing for the item is generated based on the additional input provided by the user, and the listing is displayed to the user in the user interface of the electronic marketplace application.

Abstract: Techniques for creating a user network based on user interest in a product are described. For example, a first search query is received from a first client device. The first client device is associated with a first user. A second search query is received from a second client device. The second client device is associated with a second user. The first search query is matched to a product. The second search query is matched to the product. A user network corresponding to the product is created. The first user is added to the user network based on the matching of the first search query to the product. The second user is added to the user network based on the matching of the second search query to the product.

Abstract: Systems and methods of returning location and/or event results using information mined from non-textual information are provided. Non-textual information is captured using a hardware component of a user device. Text-based social media content input on the user device is then retrieved. A location of the user device is determined using a global positioning system module in the user device. The non-textual information is converted to a machine-analyzable format, and the converted non-textual information is compared to a database of converted non-textual information samples to analyze and classify the converted non-textual information. The classification is sent to a server for storage in a database in a manner that ties the classification to the geographical location of the user device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for conducting a test on a third-party testing platform are provided. A networked system causes presentation of a setup user interface to a third-party user, whereby the setup user interface includes a field for indicating an attribute of a publication to be tested. The networked system receives, via the setup user interface, an indication of the attribute, a subject to be tested, and one or more test parameters. The networked system applies the attribute change to a first version of the publication to generate a second version of the publication. The first version is presented to a first subset of potential users and the second version is presented to a second subset of potential users. Interactions with both the first version and the second version are monitored and analyzed to determine results of the test. The results are then presented to the third-party user.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for enhancing a user's on-line experience by utilizing a computer-implemented on-line session trace system is provided. The on-line session trace system is provided in connection with an on-line trading platform. The on-line session trace system records and stores a state of an on-line session associated with a user identification and permits a user associated with the user identification to commence a further on-line session from a state corresponding to the saved state of a previous on-line session.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to transaction security techniques. In examples, a resource platform causes a set of executable verification instructions associated with an authorization processor to be executed by a user computing device. The verification instructions may be encrypted by the authorization processor for decryption by the user computing device. The verification instructions may generate verification information associated with the user computing device. In some instances, the verification information may be encrypted for decryption by the authorization processor. The encrypted verification instructions may be provided to the authorization processor (e.g., via the resource platform), such that the authorization processor may provide an indication to the resource platform as to whether the verification is verified.

Abstract: Systems and method directed to performing a single checkout process using multiple currencies are described. More specifically, a first item total in a first currency type may be displayed at a first location in a user interface and a second item total in a second currency type may be displayed at a second location in the user interface. In response to receiving a determination of a third currency type associated with a buyer of one or more items associated with the first currency type and one or more items associated with the second currency type, a transaction total including a currency transaction fee associated with converting the first currency type to the third currency type and a second currency transaction fee associated with converting the second currency type to the third currency type is displayed at the user interface.

Abstract: According to various embodiments, the Query Context Translation Engine identifies a topic of a search query history received during a current user session. The search query history in a first language. The Query Context Translation Engine identifies, in a translation table, target text that corresponds with a query in the search query history, the target text comprising at least one word. The Query Context Translation Engine obtains at least one search result based on a translation of the target text in a second language.

Abstract: Physical object boundary detection techniques and systems are described. In one example, an augmented reality module generates three dimensional point cloud data. This data describes depths at respective points within a physical environment that includes the physical object. A physical object boundary detection module is then employed to filter the point cloud data by removing points that correspond to a ground plane. The module then performs a nearest neighbor search to locate a subset of the points within the filtered point cloud data that correspond to the physical object. Based on this subset, the module projects the subset of points onto the ground plane to generate a two-dimensional boundary. The two-dimensional boundary is then extruded based on a height determined from a point having a maximum distance from the ground plane from the filtered cloud point data.

Abstract: An attribute correlation system reduces network traffic and processing cycles associated with impromptu item selections by generating attribute preference models based on disparate attribute spectrums. The attribute correlation system deploys the attribute preference models to select individual items from various disparate “candidate item categories.” Generally described, the attribute preference models facilitate analyzing item sets across a wide variety of disparate “candidate” item categories to preemptively identify individual items for a user. In this way, the individual items may be identified and, ultimately, selected for the user even absent any indication that the user has searched for otherwise identified these items or even other items from within the disparate “candidate” item categories. The “candidate” item categories may be determined to be disparate from one another based on a relationship void existing such that predefined relationships are missing between these “candidate” item categories.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for an electronic commerce file system are provided. In example embodiments, a selection of an item contained in a folder of an electronic commerce file system is received. The item is offered for sale by an electronic commerce provider, and the electronic commerce file system resides locally on a client device. Based on a type of the folder, a set of actions are provided for selection, with the set of actions to be performed with respect to the item. A selection of an action to be performed with respect to the item is received. The action is performed with respect to the item, with the action being performed between the electronic commerce file system and the electronic commerce provider via a network.

Abstract: Systems and methods for passive social media contact engagement are provided. In example embodiments, a publication that represents an item available for purchase is identified. An item image for the publication is accessed. A profile image using the item image is generated. Abstract: A system comprising a machine-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for collecting body measurements of a human user using a body measurement garment is provided. The method may further include generating a body shape model representing the shape of the body of the user. Abstract: Methods and systems for replenishing a consumable include order satisfaction responsive to an indication of imminent failure or depletion of a consumable based on detected parameters. A sensor reading may indicate that a consumable is performing below a threshold, or has limited remaining capacity. Responsive to a determination that a replacement is necessary, the method may recommend one or more alternatives. The recommendation may be made based on how closely a candidate replacement's performance or other characteristic (e.g. cost, capacity) matches that of a currently-used consumable. The recommendation may be based on one or more attributes of a candidate replacement compared to a currently-used consumable. An order may be automatically placed according to the currently-used consumable or the recommended alternative(s). The order may be delivered with instructions regarding where and when to replace the consumable.

Abstract: A system described herein uses data obtained from a wearable device of a first user to identify a second user and/or to determine that the first user is within a threshold distance of the second user. The system can then access an account of the second user to identify one or more items and retrieve model data for the item(s). The system causes the wearable device of the first user to render, for display in an immersive 3D environment (e.g., an augmented reality environment), an item associated with the account of the second user. The item can be rendered for display at a location on a display that is proximate to the second user (e.g., within a threshold distance of the second user) such that the item graphically corresponds to the second user. The item rendered for display may be an item of interest to the first user.

Abstract: A method of propagating annotations of content items to a search query is disclosed. A strength of a correspondence between a search query and a listing of an item on a network-based publication system is determined. The strength of the correspondence is based on an analysis of a set of actions by a set of users who submitted the search query. A set of annotations is generated. The set of annotations is propagated to a search engine and used to enhance search results.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for consistent schema-less and scalable database storage are described herein. A data object is generated. The data object corresponds to a column of a table from a database. The data object includes information regarding an order that is placed over a network publication system. The data object is transmitted to the device of the first user. The data is kept coherent during concurrent updates by using optimistic locks. The data is kept backward and forward compatible utilizing intermediate data structures common to both versions of the software. The data is kept searchable by using lookup indexes. The storage system is kept scalable by sharding data across many databases.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating feedback for a webpage based on visual interactions on the webpage are provided. In example embodiments, a user interface (UI) displaying the webpage is presented. The system receives an indication of a selection of an edit trigger and configures the webpage to receive feedback (e.g., one or more user inputs applied to webpage) from the user in response. The user inputs are received, whereby each user input is associated with an identifier of the webpage and coordinates of a location within the webpage. The system processes the user inputs including generating a feedback preview that displays each of the user inputs organized based on a corresponding feedback type. The feedback preview is displayed to the user for approval. Approval of at least a portion of the feedback on the feedback preview will cause the approved feedback to be transmitted to a corresponding entity.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein that overcome the limitations of conventional techniques by bridging a gap between user interaction with digital content using a computing device and a user's physical environment through use of augmented reality content. In one example, user interaction with augmented reality digital content as part of a live stream of digital images of a user's environment is used to specify a size of an area that is used to filter search results to find a “best fit”. In another example, a geometric shape is used to represent a size and shape of an object included in a digital image (e.g., a two-dimensional digital image). The geometric shape is displayed as augmented reality digital content as part of a live stream of digital images to “assess fit” of the object in the user's physical environment.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for identifying individuals through facial recognition, voice recognition, or the like, recalling past recorded conversations with the identified individuals, and recording and inventorying conversations with the individuals with mobile devices. In some embodiments, a method is presented. The method may include identifying, at a device, an individual through facial recognition, voice recognition, or a unique RFID. The method may also include recording a conversation with the identified individual, and recalling past relevant recorded conversations based on the identification of the individual, and transmitting the recording of the conversation to a display system configured to display the recording of the event.

An image that depicts an object is received from a client device. Structured data that corresponds to characteristics of one or more items are retrieved. Abstract: Systems and methods to fit an image of an inventory part are described. In one aspect, a method includes receiving images of items over a computer network from a server, capturing a live video image of an object using a camera, playing the live video of the object on an electronic display, and continually refitting an image of a first item from the received images of items to the object as the object changes perspective in the video by applying an affine transformation to the image of the first item.

Abstract: Top attributes of a product are identified from text content of an electronic document and are presented as visual depictions of the attributes. The attributes are identified and ranked based on the text content, such as whether the text content describes the attribute in a positive or negative manner. Top attributes are selected from the ranking and a visual depiction of the top attributes is identified. The visual depiction can be a universally recognized symbol or a custom image designated to an attribute. The visual depiction is superimposed on the text content associated with the attributes when the electronic document is presented at a display. In this way, top attributes for a product can be presented in a manner that condenses the relevant information provided by the electronic document into a format better suited for providing the information on small screens of mobile devices.

The scaling includes modifying a degree of a characteristic of the date facet in an increasing amount including producing a scaled-out listing implemented as an updated portion of item data having a different temporal indicator than an initial display of the item data by an amount proportional to a magnitude of a pinch gesture characteristic of the pinch gesture. The scaled-facet listing is displayed by exposing an updated set of the item data having the modified degree of the characteristic and replacing previous item data with the scaled-out listing.

Abstract: A database node selects one of a number of database mirror hosts to perform a database read query. In theory, mirror hosts store redundant database entries. In practice, some mirror hosts fail to receive or retain some entries, e.g. if a mirror host was down for maintenance, a mirror host was overburdened, etc. The health of a mirror host, quantified as a health score, represents a likelihood that an insert statement was received and retained. Health scores are generated based on health metrics—data periodically retrieved from mirror hosts used to infer how well the database was operating, e.g. a count of entries that were inserted, a count of errors encountered while the entries were inserted, etc. If the database read query specifies entries inserted during a specific time period, the mirror host may be selected based on the health scores representing that time period.

A local cache compression engine accesses values in the local cache and determines a cardinality of the values of the local cache. The local cache compression engine determines a compression rate of a compression algorithm based on the cardinality of the values of the local cache. The compression algorithm is applied to the cache based on the compression rate to generate a compressed local cache.

Abstract: Example embodiments of the present disclosure include a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for providing an interactive and social fitting room experience. Consistent with some embodiments, the method may include selecting a target audience to poll for feedback on an image of an individual wearing a garment in a fitting room. The method may further include transmitting the image to a computing device of each member of the target audience, and compiling feedback regarding the image from members of the target audience. The method may further include causing the compiled feedback to be displayed to the individual on an interactive mirror display in the fitting room.

Abstract: Technologies are shown for secure management of personal information data involving storing personal information data in a personal information data block and committing the personal information data block to a personal information data blockchain and authorizing access to the personal information data by a platform entity by storing a platform identifier corresponding to the platform entity in authorized access data. An access request is received from the platform entity that includes the platform identifier for the first platform entity. If the platform identifier is verified to be in the authorized access data, the personal information data is obtained from the personal information data blockchain and returned to the platform entity. In some examples, the authorized access data includes permissions that identify portions of the personal information data that the platform entity can access. In other examples, the authorized access data is secured on an authorized access data blockchain.

The cube build engine performs a multi-stage MapReduce job on the source data to produce a multi-dimensional cube lattice having multiple cuboids. Abstract: A metadata extraction machine accesses an image that depicts an item. The item depicted in the image may have an attribute that describes a characteristic of the item and an attribute descriptor that corresponds to the attribute of the item and specifies a value of the attribute. The metadata extraction machine performs an analysis of the image. The analysis may include identifying the attribute descriptor corresponding to the attribute based on image segmentation of the image. The metadata extraction machine transmits a communication to a device of a user based on the identifying of the attribute descriptor corresponding to the attribute of the item depicted in the image.

Abstract: Methods and systems to automatically respond to a request for product information are described. In one embodiment, a data collection module may collect product data over a network, identify that the product data is related to a particular product, and store the product data and an association between the product data and the particular product in a database. An instant messaging engine may receive a request for the product data after the product data is stored in the database and an interpreter module may identify, in response to the request, the request to correspond to the particular product and retrieve the product data based on the association between the particular product and the product data. The instant messaging engine may also transmit, using an instant messaging protocol, a response to the request, the response including the product data.

Abstract: Techniques for locating and identifying mobile devices are described. According to various embodiments, an ambient sound signal may be detected using a microphone of a mobile device. Thereafter, it may be determined that the ambient sound signal corresponds to a predefined user query for assistance in locating the mobile device. A predefined response sound corresponding to the predefined user query may then be emitted, using a speaker of the mobile device. Additionally, user identification information may be displayed on a screen in response to detecting contact with the mobile device using at least one of an accelerometer and a gyroscope.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for facilitating a comparison of content in a user interface are described. Two or more open browser interfaces of a browser are identified, each of the two or more open browser interfaces containing an item description of one or more items. The comparison for a plurality of items is generated based on the extracted or identified one or more features. Abstract: A machine learning (“ML”) pipeline that includes unsupervised learning, supervised learning, and Bayesian learning is utilized to train a ML classifier that can classify machine metrics as being indicative of an anomaly. A boosting process can be utilized during the unsupervised learning portion of the ML pipeline that scores clusters of training data for completeness, and further splits clusters of training data based upon the completeness scores in order to optimize the clustering of the training data. Supervised learning is then performed on the cluster-labeled training data. Bayesian learning can also be utilized to assign incident probability inferences to the clusters of training data. Once the ML classifier has been trained, the ML classifier can be utilized in a production environment to classify multi-dimensional machine metrics generated by computing devices in the production environment as being indicative of an anomaly.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for providing dynamic bidding notifications and price guidance for buyers are presented. The system receives a selection of a present item listing and accesses historical auction data for a set of historical item listings. The system generates a dynamic bidding model for bidding on the present item and generates one or more bidding notifications based on the dynamic bidding model. The system then causes presentation of the one or more bidding notifications on a client device.

Abstract: Technologies are disclosed herein for enhancing machine learning (“ML”)-based anomaly detection systems using knowledge graphs. The disclosed technologies generate a connected graph that defines a topology of infrastructure components along with associated alarms generated by a ML component. The ML component generates the alarms by applying ML techniques to real-time data metrics generated by the infrastructure components. Scores are computed for the infrastructure components based upon the connected graph. A root cause of an anomaly affecting infrastructure components can then be identified based upon the scores, and remedial action can be taken to address the root cause of the anomaly. A user interface is also provided for visualizing aspects of the connected graph.

A challenge content is generated and sent to the requestor. A signature is received comprising a hash of the challenge content generated using a private key. In response to validating the signature, a characteristic is associated with a user associated with the blockchain address.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for automatically adjusting machine learning parameters in an e-commerce system. Hyperparameters of a machine learning component are tuned using a gradient estimator and a first training set representative of an e-commerce context. The machine learning component is trained using the tuned hyperparameters and the first training set. The hyperparameters are automatically re-tuned using the gradient estimator and a second training set representative of a changed e-commerce context. The machine learning component is re-trained using the re-tuned hyperparameters and the second training set.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, heavy document object model (DOM) elements in a heavy web page are removed directly from a DOM tree subsequent to a request being received to navigate to another web page but before the web browser actually navigates to that other web page. In one example embodiment, the heavy DOM elements are deleted from the previous page during an ‘onbeforeunload’ event using a scripting language such as Javascript, to ensure that the render of the next page starts faster.
