  • Patent number: 11284191
Abstract: An audio system for customizing sound fields for increased user privacy. A microphone array of a headset detects sounds from one or more sound sources in a local area of the headset. The audio system estimates array transfer functions (ATFs) associated with the sounds, and determines determining sound field reproduction filters for a loudspeaker array of the headset using the ATFs. The audio system presents audio content, via the loudspeaker array, based in part on the sound field reproduction filters. The presented audio content has a sound field that has a reduced amplitude in a first damped region of the local area that includes a first sound source of the one or more sound sources.

  • Patent number: 11275633
Abstract: In one embodiment, a kernel of an operating system receives a request to store a message in a message buffer, which includes a plurality of chunks. Each chunk of the message buffer is associated with a message-occupancy indicator. The kernel determines a start and end position of the message when stored in the message buffer. The kernel determines, based on the start and end positions, whether the message, when stored, will occupy more than one chunk. Responsive to determining that the message will occupy more than one chunk, the kernel determines each chunk that will contain the message when stored. If a message occupancy-indicator associated with each chunk indicates that at least each chunk after a first chunk associated with the start position is unoccupied, the kernel stores the message in the message buffer and updates the message-occupancy indicator for each chunk containing the stored message.

  • Patent number: 11275202
Abstract: A GaN layer of micro-LEDs is exposed to ion implantation to amorphize one or more regions of the GaN layer. As a result, the GaN layer through which light rays propagate have non-uniform refractive indexes that modify propagation paths of some light rays. Ions are implanted in a region overlapping an active region that emits light to function as a converging GRIN (gradient-index) lens. The ion implanted regions collimate light rays that propagate along predetermined directions. As such, the light extraction from and the focus of the micro-LEDs is increased.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods related to describing slot information. In one aspect, a first wireless communication device determines a bitmap having a value for each of a plurality of slots for wireless traffic. The bitmap may indicate a status or type of a corresponding slot. The first wireless communication device may send, using a wireless local area network (WLAN) based protocol, to a second wireless communication device, a message comprising the bitmap. The message may further comprise a duration of each of the plurality of slots, a period of the plurality of slots, and a persistency of the plurality of slots.

  • Patent number: 11256402
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for generating and broadcasting digital trails of visual media may include (i) receiving user input initiating a digital trail, the user input including a selection of a trail mode from a list of candidate modes, (ii) creating a digital trail container configured to contain a series of thematically related visual media works generated by users invited to contribute to the digital trail, (iii) providing, to one or more users, a creation prompt that corresponds to the trail mode, (iv) adding, to the digital trail container, at least one visual media work received in response to providing the creation prompt, and (v) displaying the resulting digital trail by sequentially presenting each visual media work added to the digital trail container in the order added. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11257295
Abstract: The present technology relates to artificial reality systems. Such systems provide projections a user can create to specify object interactions. For example, when a user wishes to interact with an object outside her immediate reach, she can use a projection to select, move, or otherwise interact with the distant object. The present technology also includes object selection techniques for identifying and disambiguating between objects, allowing a user to select objects both near and distant from the user. Yet further aspects of the present technology include techniques for interpreting various bimanual (two-handed) gestures for interacting with objects. The present technology further includes a model for differentiating between global and local modes for, e.g., providing different input modalities or interpretations of user gestures.

  • Patent number: 11257982
Abstract: A LED device is provided. In one example, the LED device comprises: an electrical contact; and an epitaxial structure having a mesa shape and including: a first doped semiconductor layer; a second doped semiconductor layer; and a quantum well layer between the first doped semiconductor layer and the second doped semiconductor layer. The electrical contact is formed on the first doped semiconductor layer. The first doped semiconductor layer comprises a protrusion region between the electrical contact and the quantum well layer. The protrusion region facilitates movement of charges from the electrical contact to a limited region of the quantum well layer.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are generally directed to apparatuses, systems, and methods that utilize electroactive devices in connection with haptic devices (e.g., haptic touch sensors or haptic feedback elements). In some examples, a haptic feedback system may include an array of electroactive devices, each electroactive device including 1) a first electrode, 2) a second electrode, and 3) an electroactive polymer element disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The electroactive polymer element may include a nanovoided polymer material that is mechanically deformable in response to an electric field generated by a potential difference between the first electrode and the second electrode. The system may also include control circuitry electronically coupled to the array and configured to apply a voltage to at least one of the first electrode or the second electrode. Various other apparatuses, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for scheduling component activation. A computer-implemented method may include: detecting a first status of a head-mounted device with one or more physical computer processors; after a first time interval since detecting the first status, disabling a Wi-Fi component of the head-mounted device for a second time interval with the one or more physical computer processors; and after the second time interval, activating the Wi-Fi component for a third time interval with the one or more physical computer processors.

  • Patent number: 11259138
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for determining a dynamic head-related transfer function for a subject includes receiving audio recordings of a sound captured by audio sensors. The sound is emitted by an in-ear speaker worn by the subject. Additionally, a reference signal captured by a microphone coupled to the in-ear speaker and one or more images captured by image sensors are received. The one or more images depict a body pose of the subject while the sound is emitted by the in-ear speaker and may be used to generate a pose representation of the body pose of the subject. A head-related transfer function for each audio sensor is determined based on the pose representation, the audio recordings of the sound, and the reference signal. The dynamic head-related transfer function is determined based on the head-related transfer function for each audio sensor.
