  • Patent number: 5158104
Abstract: On a liquid cargo tank of a barge, a pressure responsive pilot valve operates through a combination of levers to unlatch a main valve clamp arm. One lever is a latch arm having a first position engaging and retaining a latch stud mounted on the clamp arm, and having a second position free of the latch stud whereby the clamp arm is released. A latch hook normally retains the latch arm in the first position but is operable to a second position to free the latch arm from the restraint of the hook. A pilot-operated trigger arm is operable on the latch hook to move the latch hook from the latch arm retaining position to the latch release position. The trigger arm also is able to directly engage the latch arm for unlatching it if not already unlatched immediately upon freedom from restraint of the hook. The main valve seal disk is held closed under a spring-load by the clamp arm.

  • Patent number: 5152156
Abstract: An intermediate partition plate is provided between a plurality of adjacent cylinders to partition cylinder chambers in the cylinders from each other. A guide opening portion, in which respective cylinder abutting surfaces are open, is formed in the intermediate partition plate at a position on an outer side than a cylinder circumferential surface, and a slider is housed to be reciprocated. Gas is guided from the cylinder chambers during compression to the guide opening portion through first and second notches to apply the pressures of the cylinder chambers to the slider. A back pressure is applied to the slider from a back pressure pipe to move forward or backward the slider by a difference pressure between the back pressure and the cylinder chamber pressures. The slider shuts off the cylinder chambers from each other or escapes from the first and second notches to cause the cyliner chambers to communicate with each other through the first and second notches and the guide opening portion.

  • Patent number: 5144974
Abstract: An apparatus having an automatic purge valve assembly for draining condensate out of a compressed air storage tank. An air pressure switch, upon the presence of a predetermined atmospheric pressure in the air storage tank, will energize a relay which in turn enables a solenoid to open a purge valve, thus allowing any condensate present in the tank to be automatically drained through and out of an air outlet conduit to which the purge valve is attached. The relay shuts off automatically after only a brief period in order to quickly close the purge valve and thus avoid having a substantial amount of compressed air escape along with the condensate.

  • Patent number: 5143121
Abstract: An apparatus for pulsing water flowing to a shower head includes a housing with a chamber, first and second water inlets to the chamber and a water outlet. The second inlet and the outlet are located through a wall of the housing at one end of the chamber. A valve has a plate with a plurality of apertures. The valve disposed within the chamber so that water flowing through the first inlet urges the valve into close proximity to the housing wall where rotational movement of the valve alternately opens and closes the water outlet. That action creates a pulsed flow of water through the outlet. Water flowing into the chamber through the second inlet moves the valve plate away from the housing wall permitting water to flow continuously from the second inlet into the outlet without being pulsed. A mechanism is coupled to the valve to produce the rotational movement.

  • Patent number: 5141021
Abstract: The output from the sensor detecting the flow rate of the fluid passing through the conduit is compared with the ceiling value and the appointed compensating signal is added to the output from the sensor to display the signal obtained on the basis of this addition result as the value of flow rate or reduce the openness of the control valve on the basis of the above described signal when the output from the sensor is larger than the threshold value, so that the mass flow meter can accurately display the flow rate even when the fluid passes in an excessive flow rate. In addition, even though the mass flow meter and the mass flow controller are fallen into the abnormal operating condition due to an excessive flow rate of fluid, they can be quickly returned to the normal operating condition.
