  • Patent number: 7001119
Abstract: An arbor apparatus for mounting an attachment to a rotary tool includes a mandrel with a drive stage insertable into a passage in a drive boss such that rotation of the mandrel rotates the boss. The boss has a polygonal drive head engageable with the drive opening of the attachment. One end of the mandrel has a locking plate that approaches the drive head when the mandrel is inserted into the boss. The locking plate is sized to pass through the drive opening while also partially extending radially beyond the edge of the drive head. With the mandrel inserted through the boss, the locking plate is passed through the drive opening of the attachment. With a gap being maintained between the locking plate and the drive head, the mandrel is manually rotated to allow the drive head to enter the drive opening, simultaneously causing portions of the locking plate to extend beyond the edges of the drive opening.

  • Patent number: 6997654
Abstract: A tapping device is configured to be used within a drill press or lathe or other device capable of holding a cylindrical object. The tapping device has an upper projection for being axially fixed in, for example, a drill press. The remainder of the body of the tapping device is rotatable with respect to the upper projection and includes side handles for providing handy mechanical advantage to the turning of the tapping device body. The end of the body opposite the upper projection includes a chuck for holding a typical tapping tool. The projection is connected to an internal shaft which engages the body of the tapping tool and is spring biased to draw the projection and internal shaft within the body of the tapping tool. Conversely, when the tapping tool is supported in, as an example, a drill press chuck, such spring urging acts to lift the body of the tapping tool in the direction of the projection.

  • Patent number: 6939092
Abstract: A sheet metal hole cutter has a cap plate defining a substantially circular peripheral groove and an annular shelf extending radially outwardly from the peripheral groove. An elongated band forming an approximately circular shape with opposite ends of the band contacting each other defines a base edge received within the circular peripheral groove in an abutting relationship with an inner edge of the groove. The band defines an axial depth of about ½ of an inch or less, and an outer diameter within the range of about 9/16 of an inch through about 6 inches. A weld region fixedly secures the base edge of the band to the cap plate. The annular shelf of the cap plate extends radially outwardly from the base edge of the band and defines a radial depth of at least approximately 1/16 of an inch in order to prevent over-feeding of the hole cutter through a work piece.

  • Patent number: 6926576
Abstract: This invention is a long thin rocket that launches forward and glides backward after an ejection pitch maneuver with no moving parts. It takes advantage of a shift in center of pressure caused by a change in the angle of incidence of the rocket. This change in angle of incidence is caused by the side thrust pitch maneuver. The pitch maneuver is initiated by the ejection charge out a side thrust port or other side thrusting apparatus at a location on the rocket causing a large torque about the center of gravity of the rocket. The center of gravity of the rocket after the pitch is optimally less than 60% of the way between the Barrowman center of pressure and the center of lateral area center of pressure.
