The cam displaces two substantially V-shaped parts bearing on inclined inner walls of the inner chamber while an open lower portion thereof contains trains of rollers kept in engagement with the above parts by a spring. The trains of rollers bear on an upper portion of a jack stem having at least one connection head.

    Abstract: A pinion shaft starter for internal combustion engines having its pinion coupled to the shaft of the starter motor through an overruning clutch is disclosed in which a dividing wall member is mounted to define in the starter housing a first chamber located on the side of the pinion and a second chamber on the side of the starter motor, with a dust discharging vent formed in the first chamber, at a circumferential point externally of the wall member. The wall member is provided to encircle the external circumference of the overrunning clutch regardless of the position of the clutch which is axially moved by the solenoid switch to bring the pinion into or out of engagement with the ring gear on the flywheel through an opening formed in the starter housing. To insure sealing between the outside clutch circumference and wall member, an annular ring is provided along the inside periphery of the wall member.

The spring passes around two ball bearings on studs on the base to permit use of a long spring in a small space without binding. The spring arm is limited to rotation between first and second angular positions, the angle between the spring and the spring arm becoming more acute as the arm is rotated from the first position to the second position. The torque required to hold the arm at the second position is considerably less than the torque required to initiate rotation from the first position.

    Abstract: An assembly for protecting a circuit breaker drawout mechanism from damage which may be caused if excessive torque is applied to operate the mechanism. The invention relates to drawout circuit breakers of the type utilizing a worm gear assembly (34, 36) to operate a driven shaft (12) to move the circuit breaker into and out of an electrical compartment. A two-part driver shaft assembly (38) is used which includes a head (50) and a driver shaft (62). The head has a collar portion (52) which includes a ridge (54) and the driver shaft is provided with a channel (68) adapted to receive the ridge. A shoulder screw (60) connects the head to the driver shaft while a coil spring (66) encircling the screw biases the head against the driver shaft, retaining the ridge within the channel unless an excessive amount of torque is applied to the head causing the ridge to slip from the channel and preventing additional torque from being imparted to the worm.

    Abstract: A spring-loaded brake may be modulated by an integrated brake-actuating cylinder of almost unchanged constructional length, arranged radially above a spring-packet which acts in a direction contrary to the lifting force of the cylinder. The brake still has the automatic emergency stopping function of the parking brake principle. The spring packet acts against a brake piston which is acted upon by pressure at both ends by cylinders which are equipped with gaskets for sealing them both against each other and against the transmission housing. The brake discs and splash lubrication of the transmission are in communication via oil passage sections. The brake housing is designed as an assembly built into the transmission and its cover flange may be equipped with a shaft seal for fitting a shaft extension to a drive shaft. The brake hub body can be shaped as a shaft flange which brake hub body can also be the hub of a gear wheel.

    Abstract: An anti-friction worm-worm gear type speed reducer torque converter is disclosed. The speed reducer has a rotatably mounted worm gear adapted to mesh with a rotatably mounted worm incorporating a plurality of circulating rolling elements. In one embodiment, the configuration of the spiral thread of the worm is such that the balls incorporated in the load carrying side face of the spiral thread provide a substantially continuous substantially spiral shaped contact line with the load transmitting tooth of the worm gear. This is accomplished by providing the helicoid spiral thread of the worm with a flat, approximately bell shaped profile in the radial direction, with reference to the longitudinal axis of the worm, and by gradually modifying the trapezoidal dimensions of the spiral thread in axial cross-section.

    Abstract: A shift lever is composed of a lower lever section connected to a control rod of a transmission, and an upper lever section formed with a hollow cylindrical portion and provided with a shift lever knob. The lower lever section is formed with an elongate end portion which is being inserted in the hollow cylindrical portion of the upper lever section. Additionally, lower and upper elastomeric insulators spaced from each other are securely mounted on the elongate end portion of the lower lever section. The lower elastomeric insulator is securely connected to the upper lever section cylindrical portion, while the upper elastomeric insulator is adapted to form a clearance between it and the upper lever section cylindrical portion, thereby avoiding contact between the upper elastomeric insulator and the upper lever section cylindrical portion upon the shift lever being not operated.
