Patent number: 6796793Abstract: A method and device of treating an irregularly shaped article to prepare the article for painting is provided. The device includes a burner which can produce an adjustable flame tongue which can fit into crevices, openings and other irregular topographical features of an item to be painted or otherwise coated. The burner device further provides means to apply a grafting chemical on a freshly oxidized surface. Further, the invention provides means to colorize treated objects so that they may be recognized as having been treated. In another embodiment, the grafting chemicals may be enhanced with electrolytic solutions such that electrostatic methods of painting may be subsequently employed on the item. Patent number: 6797333Abstract: A treatment for silicone liner coatings after undergoing UV curing. The silicone coats a liner to facilitate its removal from the adhesive attached to a label. The silicone, while a liquid, forms a layer on the liner. UV radiation cures the liquid silicone and causes it to become a coherent, virtually solid layer. Heating the cured silicone layer and allowing it to rest for a short period of time then permits the immediate contact with it of the label's adhesive side without incurring inseparability of the silicone-coated liner from the adhesive-coated label.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2002Date of Patent: September 28, 2004Assignee: Print-O-Tape, Inc.Inventors: Roger L. Haase, Carl J. Walliser

Patent number: 6797340Abstract: A method for forming a tungsten layer on a substrate surface is provided. In one aspect, the method includes positioning the substrate surface in a processing chamber and exposing the substrate surface to a boride. A nucleation layer is then deposited on the substrate surface in the same processing chamber by alternately pulsing a tungsten-containing compound and a reducing gas selected from a group consisting of silane (SiH4), disilane (Si2H6), dichlorosilane (SiCl2H2), derivatives thereof, and combinations thereof. A tungsten bulk fill may then be deposited on the nucleation layer using cyclical deposition, chemical vapor deposition, or physical vapor deposition techniques.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2002Date of Patent: September 28, 2004Assignee: Applied Materials, Inc.Inventors: Hongbin Fang, Hyung-Suk A. Patent number: 6787198Abstract: The present invention involves the hydrothermal treatment of nanostructured films to form high k PMOD™ films for use in applications that are temperature sensitive, such as applications using a polymer based substrate. After a PMOD™ precursor is deposited and converted on a substrate, and possibly after other process steps, the amorphous, nanoporous directly patterned film is subjected to low temperature hydrothermal treatment to densify and possibly crystallize the resulting high dielectric PMOD™ film. A post hydrothermal treatment bake is then performed to remove adsorped water.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2002Date of Patent: September 7, 2004Assignee: EKC Technology, Inc.Inventors: Shyama P. Patent number: 6776883Abstract: A magnetic read head with reduced side reading characteristics is described. This design combines use of a current channeling layer (CCL) with stabilizing longitudinal bias layers whose magnetization direction is canted relative to that of the free layer easy axis and that of the pinned layer (of the GMR). This provides several advantages: First, the canting of the free layer at the side region results in a reduction of side reading by reducing magnetic sensitivity in that region. Second, the CCL leads to a narrow current flow profile at the side region, therefore producing a narrow track width definition. A process for making this device is described. Said process allows some of the requirements for interface cleaning associated with prior art processes to be relaxed.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2002Date of Patent: August 17, 2004Assignee: Headway Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Kochan Ju, You Feng Zheng, Mao-Min Chen, Cherng-Chyi Han, Charles Lin
